Ratchadamnoen Stadium: Muay thai or thai boxing

by Mahieu Updated Nov 28, 2003

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

We went to a Thai boxing fight in the Ratchadamnoen Stadium and even if you don't like the game, this is really worth the experience! It's great to see the Thai public gambling and shouting to encourage their favourite boxer. It is really safe for tourists or women, allthough the majority of the public are of course men.

Make sure you go to a real fight, because in the main tourist areas like Phuket (Patong Beach), there are organized Thai boxing shows, in which you can sit comfortably on a chair, enjoying your meal. Has nothing to do with the real fights of course! I even heard that the "boxers" come to ask for money after the show!

    Praying before the fight

While in Bangkok you should head out to the Thai boxing at Lumpini Staduim. Justask any taxi or tux tux and they will get you there in no tiem, before you go you could have a meal and afew drinks next door at the huge out door resturant inside the night market. There three or four diffrent levels of prices for seats, so the more you pay the closer you get to the ring and you can allways buy a beer there too. Was great night out, so get out there and see some real fighter's

    Dress Code: anything goes really
