  • Q Bar: bad experience

    by ukulele2223 Written Jun 1, 2012 1 reviews

This place is terrible. I've been unlucky enough to pop into this place, it was a big mistake. The place is full of old men and is also a rip off! The prices for the drinks are really high. The place reflects the worst attitude of the western civilization.
The prices for the drinks are really high. Moreover, when we got our beer it was actually warm!
The management is another thing. It is awful, terrible, annoying and rude. I had a "pleasure" talking to one of their managers and it was the worst experience!

The Q Bar in HCMC was better than this one- classier. It was full of cheesy older single men, obviously there to find their dream Asian local. It did make for great people watching.

Dress Code: Apparently, you can wear whatever you want.

The Q Bar is a trendy club even the taxi driver knew the place.I got there at 10:30 pm and people were already lining up to get in.600 baht gets you in (including 2 drinks) Gene Ferrris the Chicargo House master was in the house.
The Q Bar is not the cheapest place to party ,drinks are like 220 baht .It get really cramp with not much standing or dance space .Also try not to wet your pants waiting in line to take a leak. However the bar staff are fine and the music was excellent!

Q Bar: Grind the night away to a techno beat

This place was started by a couple of Australians without much of a budget. The result was one of the hottest and most popular night spots in Bangkok. Well-off elite Thais and hipster internationalistas rub shoulders (and more) as they grind the night away to a techno beat.

Often copied, but never duplicated, Q still reigns as the supreme night spot. One caveat: prices in this place are similar to what you’ll find in US places (200-300 baht/ drink)

Q Bar: Kickn' it at the Q Bar

    Map to the Q Bar

The Q Bar in Bangkok is Probably the longest running and most popular night club in Thailand. Q Bar is a modern nightclub (the first Q Bar was in Saigon, Vietnam) that usually has kick-ass music and DJ’s. This spot is popular with Bangkok’s upper class (yuppies) and Western Expats and is always filled with beautiful local and expat girls and guys. If you like to dance, drink and socialize this is the place to go.

Their are two floors, main floor is a long bar with booths (people tend to gather around the entrance) a terrace upstairs. I used to go there pretty regularly a couple years ago and it was my favorite non-sleazy place to hang out in Bangkok. Their is a 500 B (13USD, 10 Euro, 7GBP) cover charge that will get you 2 drinks, the cover is mostly to keep out the “common folk” and bottom barrel working gals.

Mixed drinks that are generous with the liquor will set you back 200 B (3.30USD, 4.10 Euro, 2.80 GBP) and 4000 B for a bottle (105USD, 82 Euro, 56GBP), if you are a big drinker or if you’re with a group of friends buying a bottle is the way to go. If you are a vodka fan then you are in luck, they are known for their big vodka selection.

    Q Bar: Expats Galore

If you are into the chic expat experience then this is definitely one of the better places. Good looking people and the Bar manager is really cool. I usually come here to meet up with some of my friends when I'm in town and then its off to the after hours places. Really, the after hours places are pretty cool and starting to really pop up in Bangkok especially since the police seem to have been really cracking down the last trip I went. To find out the best after hours places just start talking to some of the locals and expats here and if they like you, they'll usually let you know where to go. Still pretty hard to find as they are usually down dark alleys and unlit. If they tell you that Boss is a great place to go after hours, they either don't really like you or you picked the wrong person to ask. From what I remember its mostly house music. Not a lot of hiphop like many bangkok hotspots. You can get great pizza delivered here if you're hungry.

Dress Code: Probably the same as any decent place. You can leave the Hawaiian shirts behind unless that's really your thing.

Q Bar: Small, packed but fantastic

Q Bar is the best bar for me so far in Bangkok. But come prepared, it is jampacked on weekends it takes a bit to navigate yourself to the bar. I enjoy their music which made me dance the night away. It closes at 2AM though, like the others, so it's sad.

Dress Code: Jeans are acceptable. I saw one guy in a suit...I wonder what was he doing prior to that.

A more upmarket place where the richer young crowd of Bangkok will hang out. No sleeze, and is normally quite smartly dressed girls / guys. Paying in at the door when I was there was 500 baht per person which also gets you 2 free drinks at the bar. The prices at the bar are a lot more than most bars and I was paying 200baht for the cheapest whiskey and coke. It was 4000baht for a full bottle i think. Still managed to get get drunk somehow and had a great night. The music was hip-hop though it depends on which night you are there.

Q Bar: New York Style with a Bangkok flair

Q Bar is located on Soi 11, a block and a half east of Sukumvit.
It is a New York-style club with a small dance floor, DJ's and a huge vodka selection. Many, and I mean MANY, local Thai women stop in for drinks and dancing. 'Highly recommended.

    Dress Code: Smart casual.

    Another chic upscale nightclub...

Q Bar is just a short walk from Bed Supperclub and it the first international night club in Bangkok.

There are two (2) floors with a terrace upstairs which is perfect for a romantic night out and a reservation is recommended.

It is said that the first "Q" Bar originated in Saigon, Vietnam and when the owner saw an opportunity in Bangkok, "Q Bar" Bangkok opened.

Many international guest DJs spin here monthly and you can get more info from their website below.

Dress Code: Semi - casual and well groomed, but you can dress as you like...Preferable wear closed toe shoes (not sandles / flip flops). The bouncers can stop you at any time, but then there are those that do not really care just as long as you pay the entrance fee (on weekends and special events).

However, you will be amazed at what you see. Some will look like they just came off the catwalk, while others are laid back.
