  • ONO - One Night Only Club at Silom Soi 4: Stylish club, differnt to everything else on Soi 4

At the first view, this new venue looks too highend for Soi 4, its a strong contrast to all other bars over there. But once you enter, is really great and super high-end. It has two floor with each bar, but 2nd floor is really amazing big bar with lounge and huge chandelier in the central, which looks soo New York style. The first floor got stage and dance floor with live DJ every night as well as a small bar. Outdoor also seating area. The drinks at ONO are much more expensive than other bars at Soi 4, but the quality is really good though, if you go there try Long Island Ice Tea, i would say best one in Silom area. Also all other drinks are available, and who loves premium will be happy, from different champagne to johny walker blue label, everythign there. The music is mostly house with abit main stream. Special events make ONO really cool as you can see many hot models and very crowed while special event. Overall nice location to be. Opening 6pm and closing after 3am. (attached picture i took from ONO website).

    The Balcony: Gay Hangout

by Arjaree Updated Apr 4, 2011 193 reviews

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The Balcony is a nice bar to chill out sepcially for gay folks. Sitting outdoors checking out people... It's located in Silom soi 4 which is next to Silom soi 2 AKA "the Gay Soi". So don't be surprised if you spot loads of gays around.

This place also offers good drinks with a reasonable price. Friendly gay staff. Nice service. There are always people at this place -- locals, tourists and expats.

It's fine for women and straight guys to sit and drink here as well. I sometimes go there with my gay friend.

PS For the locals, if you are a univ student, show the student card and you get 10% discount! Unfortunately, I dont have that priviledge anymore.

    Dress Code: Casual.

Silom - Soi 2, Soi 2/1, and Soi 4: Gay Bars & Discos

by dragonc Written Mar 12, 2008 5 reviews

For gay travellers, the easiest gay places to find are in in Silom Road. Each small side alley is called a "Soi".

Under the Sala Daeng Skytrain station, on the same side of the road as Robinson Department Store, walk down a few meters and you'll come to Soi 2 - its small - don't miss it! This soi is almost exclusively gay, with the very popular DJ Station disco, JJ Park bar with live entertainment, and several other gay bars and cafes.

Walking a little further down Silom, you come to another very small alleyway, Soi 2/1. This Soi houses @Richards Pub (open from 6pm), GOD Disco (opens at 9pm but not busy until after 12), Andy's Men (massage), and Hamilton's Music Bar.

Taking a walk a little further down, you come to Soi 4; this is a bigger and more obvious land, lined with bars on both sides. Not all the bars are gay, but the atmosphere means it doesn't matter. Luminous has drag shows late in the evening, The Balcony is popular for its big terraces, Telephone is the oldest surviving gay bar in Bangkok, Cafe 4 is owned by the same guys who own the Art at Play Gallery on the left; above Balcony is the Bearbie club. Near the end of the soi on the right is Sphinx pub and restaurant, with Pharoah's Karaoke bar upstairs.

Dress Code: In the discos, you can dance shirtless, but in the other bars you are expected tobe reasonable dressed.

  • Tapas, Telephone Bar, & Pharaohs: Silom Soi 4 (cont.)

by JimmieP Written Mar 20, 2005 15 reviews

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

These restaurants / bars are on both sides of the soi.

The food served is mainly Thai, but a lot of the people go here either to meet up or to be seen.

Tapas has been opened since Silom Soi 4 was the trend and is the only bar that survived while others either changed owner, closed down, or reopen under another name.

As for Telephone Bar and Pharaohs, these two (2) restaurants / bars are frequent by all kinds of people - straights, bi's, gay's, etc. (I hope this does not offend anyone. if it does please let me know and I apologize in advance).

    * Did you know how "Telephone Bar" got its name?

Answer: As a gimmick to attract people, each table inside the restaurant has a telephone and if you see someone you fancy, you can ask the waiter for the table number of that person and dial direct line for a chat!!!

Dress Code: Casual, nothing special unless you want to be "seen"...

  • Bobby's Arm (Pool Bar): Silom Soi 4

by JimmieP Written Mar 20, 2005 15 reviews

If you are look for a place to play pool in Silom, then check out Bobby's Arm in Silom Soi 4.

With four (4) pool tables and a DJ playing hits of the 80's & 90's (ie. Duran Duran), this place is different from the rest. Many British expats, from business owners to English teachers, frequest this place.

The food is typical British and the price is moderate (similar to other places in the Silom Area).

    Most Important:
Happy Hour is from 1800hrs to 2100hrs (Buy 1, Get 1 Free).

Dress Code: No special dress code. T - shirt and jeans will do (for this place at least).

Another tip dedicated for the Gays out there. This place is a must for you gay people cos it is FULL of nice looking ones! Im not sure about weekdays but its really packed on Fris and Sats. There is also a dragqueen show: 2 groups try to compete in dancing. Its fun to watch. Another good thing is that there is NO cover charge.

Dress Code: Casual - smart casual

Tapas: House, Techno, Drum n Bass, ...

by Arjaree Updated Oct 12, 2004 193 reviews

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

I would recommend Tapas for those who like house, drum n bass, or those tunes of the same category. The resident dj's here play pretty good music. There are 3 floors: 1st, 2nd and the rooftop. The rooftop is more likely for special private events.

Usually, people like to sit outside. In my opinion, the outdoor area of Tapas looks best in that street (Silom soi 4).

A good day to go there is on Fris and Sats. On weekdays, you might find the place rather empty though there are always people taking a seat chilling outside.

    Their customers are around 20's-30's.

Speed: For all the hip hop luva's out there!

by Arjaree Updated Oct 4, 2004 193 reviews

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Most hip hop lovers go to Speed cos the music is more hip and it will make you hop more :p A few other clubs that play hip hop music, they usually have the same list of songs and play them over and over. Let's say the dj's at Speed have a longer list of music and they try to add some flavor to it.

It's usually empty on the weekday nights but it's just packed with no air to breathe or space to move on Fri's and Sat's! It's a lot of fun.

The cocktails there are, well, not strong but it will get you thru the night. The price is average for the area.

People who go there, quite a few are regulars. It's a mixture of the locals, tourists, expats and many students also.

One thing, one bad thing, the place is kind of dirty. But when it's dark and you're having fun.. you wouldn't notice it.

Dress Code: Casual. Your own style... a few people dress in a hip hop style, baggy and big tee with a bandana and a cap.

    DJ Station: BANGKOK GAY SCENE

by vigi Written Apr 19, 2003 1195 reviews

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

me & my sisters @ Bangkok (THAILAND)

The center of Bangkok's gay scene is without doubt Silom Soi 2, Soi 2 is widely considered to be 'more gay' than nearby Soi 4. The bars get hot and sweaty on weekends make it hard to move, let alone dance to the trendy underground sounds. Hot spots along this strip are the ever-popular DJ Station, a disco with drag shows and dancing guys.

Dress Code: Anything, as long as you feel comfortable dancing. Most guys are dancing topless anyway. Remember to bring along your Identity Card or Passport, there's police check at the entrance of Soi 2, age below 20 not allowed.
