Take the expressboat and go north to the final destination (Nanthaburi). This trip costs about 10 Baht (0,5 US$) and takes about an hour. Here you have beautiful views on temples, buildings and ships.
In Nanthaburi there will be very little white people. So be prepared to speak with hand and feet.
From here take bus nr. 32 to Pak Kret. You need the number because all the writing on the bus is in Thai. Unless you speak Thai you will have a problem.
It took another 30 minutes to get to Pak Kret. Having arrived there, you walk straight to the river, through a temple and to a little peer (10 min walk).
For as much as 1 baht!!! you can cross the river by boat and finally you are on Ko Kret, a beautiful island (look at my travelogue) which is officially still in Bangkok.
Little Wats, banana plants, surprised looking Thai people, dogs, palm trees, it's just nice to be away from busy Bangkok. You can also observe farmers working.
