Rachathiwat Ratchaworawiharn Temple was built before the Ayutthaya peroid. King Rama IV resided here while he was in the monkhood"
The temple is situated at the end of Samsen Soi 9 on the banks of the Chao Phraya river .Inside the temple grounds an unusual stone bell tower.Climb to the top and check out the bell and view over the temple. In the main temple you can see a Thai Fresco mural painted by an Italian artist name Mr Regoli .If you want a little tour of this temple ask one of the monks who will be more than glad to help.
To get to this temple from Bunglumpoo catch bus number 3,33.60 and get off oposite McDonalds. .

One my my favorite things about entering Thailand-is the descent to either Bangkok or other cities. On descent, most places look the same-but Thailand is different. You will see glimpses of chedis, wat tops. The glitter and gold. Really beautiful.

The wats are beautiful and quite interesting, but i know after a few days you can be temple-ed out. That's one nice thing about Bangkok , is there are so many other fine distractions in this city. Just take your time, admire these grand temples.

Wat's are everywhere...

You can see Wat's everywhere in Bangkok, specially when you take the tour of the well known Chao Phraya River. There you can see the real life of most of the Bangkokians living in the side of this river. You can even discover some heart warming experience.

Wat Indra Wihan

This temple is quite interesting as it has a huge outdoor standing Buddha. It is nice walk north of Khao San Rd on Sam Sen Rd. It can be a little tricky getting to it as it is hidden amongst some small alley ways but just walk around in the area you will eventually find it. Look for the tall Buddha!! Ask locals when you get close!

This temple is located on the west bank of the river in the Bangkok Noi district opposite the Grand Palace. It is a second grade royal temple that was built during the reign of King Taksin (r. 1768-82).

Take the Local Train to the countryside, cycling

This is one of the best ways to view Bangkok & Countryside by bike mainly for casual traveler. It allows you to view the local wild life at your pace. The bicycle tour involves taking the local train to get to countryside (50 min.), continue cycling in countryside, the stop to talk to villagers are frequent, along the way we will visit local temple, market, farms, and participate in the classroom with schoolchildren (weekday), and enjoy the organic Thai food at the head of the village's house.

Wat Rakhang Khositaram

Formerly called Wat Bang Wa Yai, the temple was built in the Autthaya period. It was restored and appointed a Royal temple by King Taksin of Thonburi who also sponsored the revision of the "tripitaka" scriptures at the temple. During the reign of King Rama I a melodious bell was found in the temple compound. The King ordered it to be moved to the Emerald Buddha Temple, and had five new bells sent back. Also located on the grounds of this temple is what was once the home of Rama I before he became King. The temple is located on the Thonburi side of the river. Take a ferry from the Grand Palace to get there.
