Light, natural fabrics. For example, cotton are best for staying cool. A sun hat or baseball cap is another extremely useful item to take with you.
Men should usually wear a suit and tie for business however, as a concession to climate, going in tie and shirtsleeves is acceptable. Generally, Thai tend to dress informally (mostly in western style) bu neatly and prefer visitors to do likewise. Respectable dress is required when visiting temples. Shoes and any head gear cap etc. shoud be removed whenever you enter a temple or a private home.

Jackets and ties are required in a few restaurants and nightclubs. Neat clothes are required for entering temples or palaces

This will get you into temples and palaces without a fuss and stop you looking totally like a tourist! If you forget to bring the right clothing, though, don't worry - it's very cheap to buy here.

If you happen to visit a school (especially in the northern part of Thailand) try to get in touch with a school teacher. They always need stylos and paper for the children!
Luggage and bags: If u forget your t-shirt don't worry Bangkok have a lot of markets that you can buy one in the cheapest price in the world.
