Face Bar: AMAZING Thai house!
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Walking into soi Sukhumvit 38 you would never expect you see something like this hidden in the middle of busy Bangkok. This place is truely amazing. It's large wooden Thai traditional house. Lanna (northern Thailand) style. (Lanna Thai restaurant) and the other parts are Indian cuisine, Bar,Pastry shop, cafe ..share the area of this beautiful house.

Go there for dinner for the great atmosphere, it's relaxing with nice candle light.

Things you may not like : staff could be very slow and sometimes don't notice that you were still alive waiting for missing dishes you've ordered half and hour ago. But they were polite and tried to do their best already I think.

HOR MOK PLA : (Steamed Fish in Banana Leaf) Good taste, boneless, just right for eating with rice.

GAI PAD MED MAMUANG : Fried chicken with cashew nuts! always goooooood

So-called "MK Suki" But I'm not sure if it's originate from China? or Japan? or ..no where? But MK is very popular among Thai family for weekend-family lunch, dinner. Or group of friends. It's Suki Yaki-like. You order anything you want and throw them all in the pot that full with boiled soup. Come along with spicy dipping sauce, refill chinese tea. Dimsum also available. Going to MK you should be at least 2 people. Some people go there mainly not just for food but it's kind of fun to share your meal with friends and steal some of their fish balls when they don't notice it.. :-) let's say..to some people it's more like entertainment.

    - Roasted Duck : Can order small dish. It tastes good with a little bit sweet sauce.

    - Seaweed Pork Ball
    - Shrimp Wonton
    - Green Noodle!

    Tandoori: Indian Food
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Tandoori offers authentic Indian Cusines. They have chcuiken curry, tandoori, roti etc. and prices are really reasonable.

The location maybe a little bit hard to find coz its located along the small street in Pratunam at the back of Indra Regent.

The owner is very friendly and hospitable.

Dont miss their masala tea and the chicken tandoori.

MBK Food Court: International food at Mah Boon Krong mall

    5th Food Avenue food court,

I ate at The Fifth Food Avenue one lunchtime during a visit to Bangkok in September 2007.

This international food court is located on the fifth floor of the Mah Boon Krong (MBK) shopping mall. The MBK mall is easily reached on the Skytrain – simply alight at National Stadium station and follow the covered walkways into the mall.

As at September 2007, the food court contained the following international food vendors:

    Ali’s Arabic (Muslim)
    Blue Ginger (Vietnamese)
    Chutney (Indian)
    Creative Canteen (Steak and seafood)
    Giorno (Italian)
    Nara (Thai)
    Kow Kub Kang (Thai)
    Tamarind (Vegetarian)
Wok & Me (Chinese / Singaporean)
    Yura An (Japanese)
    The Juice Bar (Fruit juice)
    Soufl’e (Dessert)
    Visage (Dessert)

Upon entering the food court, you are given a “credit card” which is swiped for each purchase that you make. After finishing your meal, you hand your credit card to the cashier at the exit and settle your bill (which includes an automatic 5% service charge).

I opted to purchase my meal from Nara, a kiosk which offered a large selection of Thai dishes. Amongst the choices were red, green and yellow curries with rice, various stir fries with shrimps, chicken, pork and seafood, rice and noodle dishes, soups and spring rolls.

    I opted for:

Fried noodles in sweet soy sauce with chicken - Cost: 75 Bahts (approx. 1.20 GBP)

A decent sized plate of wide, flat egg-fried noodles, tender pieces of chicken and stir fried green vegetables. The meal was quite filling and very good value for money.

From the drinks kiosk, I ordered:

Draught Singha beer (330ml) - Cost: 65 Bahts (approx. 1.00 GBP)

Mirinda orange juice (with ice) - Cost: 25 Bahts (approx. 0.40 GBP)

A good choice of international food in the MBK shopping mall!

Food Loft: Great Selection of Foods
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Food Loft is my favorite restaurant in Bangkok. Located at the 4th level of Central Mall Ploentchit rd.

A very cozy place to dine...not too casual but not a formal dining either.

They offer Asian Foods (Thai, Malaysian, Indian, Chinese) and pasta and pizza. Wide selection of desserts...from ice cream to cakes to pastries. Beverages is located on different conter...juices, coffee, fruit shakes, softdrinks name it and they almost have it here.

Upon entrance you will be given 1000THB worth of coupon which you will used when purchasing the food. After you finish you can settle your bill at the exit counter.

I love their pizza, pasta and chinese cuisines.Plus their mouth watering desserts.

    Hard Rock Cafe: Big Serving
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Hard Rock Cafe is located within Siam Square. They have very nice interior ike the other Hatrd Rock Cafes which you can find in other countries.

Very lively at night because of the live bands playing who are mostly Filipino.

The place maybe very noisy and ungealthy for those who do nto smoke but worry not coz their second floor is assigned to those customers who wanted a peaceful dinner :-) with a telecast of a football match.

The serving of their food is really big (to share) and it really taste good.

Baked Macaroni and cheese, pasta with grilled chicken breast

    Street Food: Great Pad Thai
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • On the corner of Sukhumvit and Soi 33 just opposite the Londoner Pub is a street seller with about four tables set up just on the street by the corner. This place has the most wonderfull Pad Thai I've ever tasted and I think it's incredibly cheap - don't know 'cos I didn't pay. Sme locals who took me there paid.
