  • Great food and excellent value

We visited here on our second night in Bangkok on recommendation from guide books. The food was excellent and the service was very attentive, Staff were very friendly and restaurant was very clean. A good menu choice and nice cocktails with a relaxing atmosphere in very pleasant surroundings made this a thoroughly enjoyable night. Highly recommended for those seeking simple but tasty Thai food in a relaxed atmosphere without spending a fortune.

  • Ban Chiang Restaurant: Best Thai/Chinese Food served Fast

Nice setting in a old Thai House. Inside (air-con) and ourside dining options. Traditional Thail food but I would rate it above average for taste and presentation. Willng to customize level of spiciness.

Favorite Dish: Must try : Green Curry, Wing bean salad, Pandan Wrapped chicken

If you want to experience authentic Thai cooking, this restaurant is a good choice.

Fodor’s describes it - ‘an oasis in the concrete city, this wooden house was built around 1915; the decor is turn-of-the-20th-century Bangkok, with antique prints and old photographs adorning the walls.' This is quite an accurate description of how the place is, only I wish to add that the decor is very tasteful. The addition of floor-to-ceiling windows in the main dining room succeeds in letting the light in and bringing the outdoor in to the otherwise small room. The feeling of the place is cosy and intimate - rather more like home than a commercial establishment.

The menu offers a very good selection. The staff members do not speak English well but I can see that they try their best to be helpful.

Favorite Dish: Hot Eggplant Salad - the eggplant is parboiled to the right texture; not hard yet not too soft. The topping of sliced shallots and pounded dried shrimp is really tasty.

Cotton Fish with Mango Sauce - unlike restaurants in Singapore that tend to make the mango sauce too sweet, the sauce here has the right balance of sweetness and tanginess. The cotton fish is deep-fried to a nice golden brown colour - this is important to me as I am a visual person.

Oyster Omelette - whole medium sized oysters in the omelette which is good if you like oysters.

Banana Fritters served with Lime in Honey - the bananas are wrapped in a light batter and deep fried till crispy.

    Ban Chiang: Peaceful and quiet

An old, restored Thai House that we couldn't at first find. Inside is full of antiques and artefacts with pleasant music playing quietly in the background.
An extensive menu of Thai staples and Isan specialities we had a hard time making our minds up. Eventually we settles for our usual selection of dishes, some spicy some not. We thought the portions were a little small but very enjoyable all the same.
