Ban Khun Mae: Traditional Thai Food - Live Thai Music
A very nice Thai Food @ the heart of Siam Square......
The food here is traditional, but as most of the customers are foriegner, the food is mild and not too spicy. I once took my aunt and cousins (Americans) and they were really impressed and got back to eat here more than 4-5 time within their 3-week stay!!
Overall -- 4.5 Stars, and the price isn't that expensive.
Also live Thai classical music is available on Sats and Suns.
Favorite Dish: Recommend menus: Any Thai spicy salads (e.g. Grass noodle, fruits, seafood,...), Pad-Thai, Tom-Yum, and finish your meal with sticky rice with mango...yummmmm

Ban Khun Mae: Great Thai cuisine with a touch of royalty
It's not everyday you get to eat a meal with royal eyes staring down at you. At my table, I have Her Majesty, Queen Sirikit looking at me....in fact, many of her looking at me, as if warning me that wasting food is sinful.
The packed restaurant is adorned with pictures of royalty, both past and present. Yes, I have the entire royal lineage accompanying me as I appreciatingly wolfed down a great meal.
I was here having dinner, a guest of my kind Thai colleagues. The atmosphere is as Nigella Lawson would purred "all deliciousness". The interior is sombre with olive green but not forbidding, brought out to life by the warm caress of spot lights. Heavy sturdy traditional wooden tables and chairs invoke a village cosy feeling. Service was quick, warm and friendly. The air, was enticing. Sultry with the allure of Thai cooking. Sexy.
The food....imagined Nigella dipping her finger into a winking sauce and licking it all unwholesomely pure. Wickedly satisfying.
Favorite Dish: We licked our fingers and slurped our tongues through Tom Yum Goong, Curries and Tangy salads but I must say that the standout dish was the Battered Morning Glory (also called Kangkong/Water Convolulus) served with general sides of minced pork, prawns and greens. I have never seen the dish prepared as such. Extremely intriguing...not to mention, yes, quoting Nigella again, "all beguiling".
NOTE: Generally, this is a slightly more upmarket place for the locals....but for tourists, especially if your currency is strong, it should work out pretty fine for your wallet/purse.
Ban Khun Mae: Ban Khun Mae
Came here as part of a VT meeting with Rin (VT name SiRin). It's right in the middle of the Siam Square area and seems to be popular with both locals and visitors. It is themed as a traditional Thai house with lots of wood and the food is great. There are also performances of traditional Thai music to entertain you while you eat dinner. The service was also excellent. My girlfriend liked it so much she made sure we came back again a few days later to show her daughter.
Favorite Dish: Chicken in a hot, spicy coconut cream soup
Ban Khun Mae: Classic Thai Homestyle Cuisine
Truly authentic thai restaurant. Food is classic. Ambience is cozy and warm. Music is soft and nice and plays from 7-10 pm.
Favorite Dish: Indulge yourself from a classic thai menu comprising of myriad of spicy, savoury and sweet dishes all prepared by top lady chefs in the true thai tradition. I like the sauteed morning glory and chicken with cashew nuts. Some of the best sellers are the following:
Kung Ob Woon Sen- baked seasoned prawn with glass noodles.
Kaw Kriab Pak Mor-steamed flour wrapped with sweet turnip, crushed roasted peanuts, coriander root and garlic served with chili and vegetables.
Tom Yum Gung-shrimp in sour and spicy soup.
Kra Tong Tong-minced chicken and sweet corn in pastry shell.
Ban Khun Mae: Thai food after a day of shopping
Good authentic Thai Food and located near the Siam shopping area. Serve traditional thai meals at what I remember was a fair price. The service seemed to be good and everyone enjoyed the meal.
Favorite Dish: Served Tom Yum Goon, Fish Cakes, Pad Thai, and a refreshing Thai Iced tea.
