Banana Leaf: Try the Tom Yum Goong
A restaurant serving Thai cuisine recommended by a local. There were quite a number of locals dining there. It's good that the menu came with pictures and English and we were able to order what we wanted. The food is nice and the pricing is fair. For a satisfying dinner for 2, we paid less than 800Bht for the following: pineapple fried rice, spring rolls, tom yum goong, fried fish in sweet and sour chilli sauce & papaya salad.
Favorite Dish: I like the Tom Yum Goong the best, spicy & sour, most appetising. I just don't seem to get enough of it.
Banana Leaf: Cheap Thai food in the heart of Silom
Whenever I want to sample local cuisine of a country, I try to go where the locals go to. While shopping at Silom Complex, I came across the Banana Leaf Restaurant. This is a small cafe-style restaurant serving Thai dishes at very reasonable prices.
Favorite Dish: Green curry chicken - perhaps the most familiar Thai dish among foreigners
Thai fish cakes - mashed fish meat made into a disc-shaped cake and eaten with tangy spicy sauce
Mango salad - slices of mango mixed with cabbage, onions and condiments
Tom yam goong - spicy and creamy soup with a choice of seafood or chicken
