Well i really liked this restaurant..It was well lit up..which made for a really nice atmosphere..The service was excellent the food was very good!! The idea behind the name is also very interesting..Definately worth a visit, will go back again!!
Favorite Dish: We had a really interesting appetizer..It was a Betel Leaf with Thai things on it!!
The food at this resturant was good. Most of the dishes are served with a bowl of rice (as they mostly do with in all thai dishes) The food was good and all the walls are decorated with condoms from around the globe. Yes its right with Condoms. And not these normal condoms that we see today but of all various shapes and sizes Actually i was later told that the founder of this resturant belived that birth control should be as cheap vegetables and thats how the resturant got its name. I think that all the profit of this resturant goes towards aids control etc.
And this is the best part
"When you finish the meals and time comes to pay your bill one is given condoms as souviners."
The food is, at worst, pretty good Thai food.
It's not the fanciest meal in Bangkok, but the dedication of Dr. Meechai, the former public health minister and owner, to his foundation work -- reproductive health services, vocational assistance for former or potential commercial sex workers, village economic development work, and HIV/STI prevention -- together with the very pretty old-fashioned Thai building, wildly decorated with condoms from around the world, make this a meal like no other.
The money you spend does some extraordinarily important work.
There's a sister restaurant in Khorat which offers a very nice patio.
The Cabbages & Condoms Restaurant
Set up by the advocate for safe sex in Thailand, Mr Meechai has had a great deal of success with this restaurant. The most intersting point is your departure when you are free to help yourself to a selection of free condoms. Mr Meechai's way of spreading the word about safe sex.
Favorite Dish: A truly great selection of Thai food
Have been here a number of times now and love this Restaurant. The name sounds a bit tacky but sitting outside in the garden with all the fairy lights and the Thai music is really nice. Have heard mixed reports about the food but I have always enjoyed it and since going there with a local who gave me to tips on what to order I enjoyed it even more. Great place for a reasonably priced romantic dinner.
Favorite Dish: There are so many great Thai dishes. There was one where we wrapped up leaves with all different types of herbs which was delicious.
This restaurant was so nice and has a very special atmosphere, dont mistake by its name.... nothing derty here ...lol.
When you enter the place you don't even realize you get into a restaurant until you are inside and then its just lovely, especially if you eat outside, that is the big fun, oh yes.... and the food is just great and as usual in Thailand very cheap.
Very Very special atmosphere, try it .
Favorite Dish: Most kinds of shrimps & kalamary
This is a simple restaurant, albeit set in a nice 'green' environment. I was rather amused by the dining table which under the glass cover it decorated with different coloured condoms. There is a small shop at the entrance of the restaurant and they sell souveniers...but the unique ones are of condoms. They have paper weight with condoms in side, and they have mugs with condom prints etc. Quite a joke!!!
Favorite Dish: the food there is excellent - and at modest prices.
On the evenings we were there, there were lots of tourists as well as expatriates.
They have good curries and fish etc. I particularly was taken by their red jasmine rice...which I have never seen before.
This is a neat place to come for some very good traditional Thai dishes. The restaurant is run by the Thai Population & Community Development Association, so it serves as an ingenious educational/fundraising tool for birth control & AIDS awareness.
Favorite Dish: Everything we had was great. The fish with chili sauce was spectacular....their version of laab gai was good too.
The restaurant's theme is quite unique. Food is great and price is reasonable.
Note that all proceeds from the restaurant will be used to fund development and social welfare activities of PDA.
Favorite Dish: I don't know the names of each Thai dish that was served to us. There were about six different dishes (or more) and I tried all of them!
Not on the beaten track, but glad we found it. Wonderful theme, great food and good service. Would highly recommend this restaurant to my friends.
Tried five items from the menu including soup and spring rolls; all fabulous.
Great theme and decor but the furniture is checxp and nasty. Food is excellent but high price and the service is a mess.
Having been served our main course at the same time as the starter on our last visit we insisted we did not want to order mains until we had finished our starters. This was not allowed and the waitress insisted we order eveything at the same time and she would ensure we get the meals at the correct time. We had to returnthe main courses TWICE as they came along while we were eating the starter. When we finally got the main course it was cold :(
Never again C&C
Favorite Dish: Shrimp cakes are fantastic!
