I visited Coffee World one morning during a visit to Bangkok in September 2007.
This coffeeshop, with the motto "Where the World Meets", has branches all over Bangkok. I visited the Patpong branch on Thanon Silom, just a short walk from the Silom metro station and the Sala Daeng Skytrain station.
It is a very comfortable cafe, in the Starbucks mould. The interior features comfortable sofas and armchairs, atmospheric lighting and lots of people reading newspapers or working on their laptops (the cafe offers free wi-fi access). It is also air conditioned, which is very important in hot, humid Bangkok.
There is a reasonable selection of food, ranging from sandwiches and salads, to a whole array of cakes, cookies, gateauxs, waffles and ice cream sundaes.
The drinks menu is very extensive, including various coffees, cappuccinos, frappes (chocolate, caramel, French vanilla, strawberry cheesecake...), milkshakes, smoothies (various fresh fruit combinations), tea and soft drinks.
Prices are relatively expensive compared to those in Bangkok as a whole, but are comparable with other such coffeehouse chains in the city and are still cheaper than in the UK.
The friendly English-speaking staff take your order at the counter and bring it to your table a few minutes later.
I opted for:
Chocolate Frappe - Cost: 95 bahts (approx. 1.50 GBP)
A thick, chocolate flavoured ice blended drink. Similar to a McDonalds milkshake, in that it was difficult to drink through a straw until it had melted a little. It contained either ground nuts or small pieces of biscuit, but I'm not sure which.
Double Chocolate Brownie - Cost: 45 bahts (approx. 0.70 GBP)
A small piece of piping hot chocolate brownie, topped with chocolate sauce. Very nice!

When you're wandering around town on a hot day, an iced coffee goes down very nicely. Coffee World is a good place to find one; the stores are attractive and comfortable, and the airconditioning means that it's cool enough to enjoy a hot coffee if you are so inclined, too. There's a good range of cakes and pastries if you're feeling peckish, as well.
