If you plan to spend
the day at the weekend market,
you will be surrounded by the
smells of all types of foods
in the deep frying making.
Even strange looking ones!
Healthy Eaters,
do not fret!
Tucked away in the outside corner
of the Chatuchak Market is
a cute and very quaint place to eat.
Small, but truly exceptional
is Wishing Well, managed by
its very sweet owner Ying,
as in Yang!
Now how Macrobiotic is that!
Ying is a unique Thai who
has that spiritual connection with food.
Not only does she serve brown rice
with yummy vegetables and tofu,
but she cooks it from the heart.
Made with love.
Now you can’t get any better than that!
When possible,
she uses organic produce,
which is sold in the market
across the street.
As you enjoy your dish,
especially made for you,
you can enjoy the meal
to the New Age music that
will accompany you
while you eat.
I had an extensive conversation with Ying
and could truly feel her within me.
I mentioned how much I admired her being Thai,
and still having the quest in eating Good Foods.
She said that most Thais do not understand her,
but most of you healthy eaters out there,
should be able to relate to that one too.
She also offers individual cooking classes
on Wednesday through Fridays which
just gave me the urge to take her back home.
Favorite Dish: Some of the delicious meals that Ying prepares are:
Yogis Brown Rice Set: Brown rice, sesame,
+ vegetable salad, steamed mushroom and Miso Soup
for 65 Bahts
Grilled Mushroom with Sesame Oil Dressing
and Brown Rice for 54 Bahts
Steamed Tofu dressing with Sesame Oil Dressing
and Brown Rice at 54 Bahts
Her menu ranges from 50 to 90 Bahts.
At the end of my healthy meal,
I decided to give her more than the actual price,
just because I am so grateful to her,
for being there when my tummy was in need.
Closed on Monday and Tuesday.
Tarot reading available from
Wednesday through Friday.
Open on weekend from 9 am – 6 pm.
Note: It is best that you
call before hand,
since at the time of my visit,
she was considering to
maybe move closer into town.
But please do support
this wonderful lady,
if you appreciate Healthy Food.
I’m wishing you well, Ying!

In the center of Cathucak, where the foodstalls are lined up, u can not miss this restaurant. It had a very local ambience, they even use cracked pottery as the plates and glasses. I forgot if there's even a name for this particular restaurant, but just look at the plates and glasses they used. If it's made of brown-colored pottery, this is the restaurant I'm talking about!
Favorite Dish: I had son tham (traditional young papaya salad), glutonious rice with fried chicken wing and washed it down with longan water. It was a wonderful traditional meal. And cheap as well..

Here is a very tiny clean hidden restaurant. In the centre of the room is a large long-long table wherein they would have all kinds of ready dishes for everyone´s taste...very spicey, midium spicey but all of which are spicey...it´s just very delicious and so affordable.
Our camera would only take half of the table so you could imagine how much more plates of various food there is...
Favorite Dish: Just by the looks a plate was offered to us, it had steamed asparagus, with lots of mushrooms and large chunk of lobsters, a large plate only cost less than 3Euros, yes, indeed it was spicey but nothing that would burn your tough...just delicious.

The Chatuchak weekend market is the best reason to stay in Bangkok over the weekend. It's amazing. With all the shopping and weaving through the tight curves of the market-you will get hungry. There are lots of good and cheap food to be had. Everything from hawkers selling goodies, to fish cakes, sweet kuehs to sit down restaurants. It's not worth it to leave the market for being hungry. If you are tired that's one thing, but there are some nice food here. Even one halal self serve cafe in the clothes section.

This cafe is just one of the small places dotting Chatuchak Market!
Shopping can make you so hot and sticky that sitting here with the mist fan is a great respite to the discomforts and hunger pangs of shopping!
Favorite Dish: Stir fried noodles!

For 15THB, u can get a bowl of thai chedol.
the coconut milk is very tasty and juicy.
Esp when you feel very warm, just slurp down a bowl of it and you will feel very cooling.
I had a bowl at Chatuchak near the bank while queuing to exchange for $.
In Thai it's call Lod Chong. There is another mixture it's call Lod Chong Singapore. {suraphona} . I have not tried it.
Almost going to finish it but i could i not leave a pic for fellow VTers?

Green Curry is cooked with ingredients comprised of coconut milk, sweet basil and chilies.
Coconut milk give a curry a mild almost sweet flavour. Green chilies add more spice.
Kaeng Khiao Wan can be eaten with rice spaghetti known as 'Khanom Jeen Kaeng Khiao Wan'.
I had mine at Chatuchak Market in the restaurant.
