  • Le Cafe Siam: Great ambiance

Wonderful atmosphere. Start with drinks upstairs relaxing in the soft 1920's ambiance imagining Somerset Maughan conversing in literary abstractions in the opposite corner.

When it comes time to order, hope the sauteed and cognac flamed liver in still on the menu. It's melt in your mouth delicious. A French/Thai fusion at its best.

A dining pleasure from start to fininsh.

Located in a beautiful colonial home.
    Surrounded by a lush garden.
Thai and French Michelin starred cuisine.

Its open daily from 6 p.m. onwards.

Favorite Dish: I love enjoying the atmosphere on 2nd floor for a coffee and desert.

Les Cafe Siam: Le Cafe Siam - Les Bottles of Red Wine

I did NOT take this photo.

Le Cafe Siam is more than a restaurant. It's a place to drink the only decent red wine I can find in Bangkok after a day out with my punters. Usually it is the whites that keep well in Thai restaurants, though for some reason these "garcons" have worked out how to do the "rouges".

Then there is all the old gear that you can buy. The place doubles as a gallery for antique arts - which is good, and furniture shop - not so good (in my opinion) as the quality and prices on the wood are sometimes dubious.

    Still, that's me.

Right the food then. Yeehaaa. French and Thai. You see it would be. Given this piece of colonial 1920s vernacular (photo is not mine, it's the postcard that's on sale) exudes Thai and France the menu would be daft not to mirror this splendid cultural merge. And a tasteful garden area for the cooler Bangkok evening.

Favorite Dish: There must be a french chef in there somewhere. Bashing out the duck. I never get pass the duck. It's fine by me. Love what I know and know what I love...

...which leads me onto my loverly missus. She always go Thai (central richer Thai cuisine) and is always sabai jai by the time we are off home to the house.

Frappe deux or trois bouteilles and get les taxi home. Cracking.
