Le Dalat Indochine: Vietnamese Elegance in Bangkok

This is an elegant restaurant, located on Soi 23, in Bangkok. It is housed in a building from the 1950's, and is decorated in shaades of blue and white. The decor is understated, but lovely.

The food is very much derived from the French indochina era, with delicate sauces and flavors. The soup was very good, very light, almost a consomme. None of of the food was overly spicy. The wine menu was extensive, and the prices seemed reasonable. All of the ordering was done by a business partner, so what I remember most is the atmosphere and the service.

(The thrilling first ride I had in the front seat of a right hand drive car to get to the restaurant is a story for another day!!)

This was an elegant place to have a business dinner, and a refreshing change from the sometimes overpowering Thai food.

    Le Dalat: Vietnamese splendour

Le Dalat in the Sukhumvit area is Bangkok's fanciest and most renowned Vietnamese restaurant. Just around the corner from a strip of sex bars Le Dalat is a haven of peace, a beautiful building in a verdant garden. Friendly service and delicious (if not outstanding), beautifully presented food make this restaurant a wonderful place for a splurge. Prices are quite reasonable. A full meal for two can be had for around 1000B.

Favorite Dish: Spring rolls, of course, fried or fresh.
    Roasted pigeon

    Le Dalat or Le Dalat...

Le Dalat or Le Dalat Indochine
Apparently, they have two same restaurant under the
same group, but the earlier is frequented more by locals and expatriates, while the latter
which is much newer by tourist. Both are equally good and popular. Bookings is essential.
Lovely looking restaurant, an old colonial bungalow converted into a restaurant with a garden surrounding.
The interior is blue and white finishing, with lots of little nicknacks decorating the entire place.
Service is extremely efficient, and one of the places where English is understood!!!

Favorite Dish: The menu is not extremely extensive, but good choice.
They have a picture menu as well which seems popular among Japs. The captain can help you to make the order and will help to make suggestions but you should be adventurous. I particularly enjoyed most of the entrees there, and was too full to eat more.
