MK Restaurant: Time for hot pot!

by beebah Written Jun 24, 2004

So-called "MK Suki" But I'm not sure if it's originate from China? or Japan? or where? But MK is very popular among Thai family for weekend-family lunch, dinner. Or group of friends. It's Suki Yaki-like. You order anything you want and throw them all in the pot that full with boiled soup. Come along with spicy dipping sauce, refill chinese tea. Dimsum also available. Going to MK you should be at least 2 people. Some people go there mainly not just for food but it's kind of fun to share your meal with friends and steal some of their fish balls when they don't notice it.. :-) let's some people it's more like entertainment.

Favorite Dish: - Roasted Duck : Can order small dish. It tastes good with a little bit sweet sauce.

    - Seaweed Pork Ball
    - Shrimp Wonton
    - Green Noodle!

MK Restaurant: A "Hot Pot" Restaurant For The Entire Family

by awayhome Updated Mar 24, 2004

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This is one of the better family restaurant chains in Bangkok. MK specializes in hot pot style meals where you can choose your own fresh ingrediants ranging from all sorts of vegetables to shrimp & various meats which are all boiled together in a boiling pot of soup in the center of the table. The meats are then dipped in a sweet & spicy sauce which really makes for an enjoyable meal.

Favorite Dish: You can create so many variations it would be too hard to choose just one favorite dish. Try it out!

    MK Restaurant: Steamboat in Bangkok

by xuessium Written Nov 12, 2005

This is a franchise chain and there are many branches littered throughout the city. My colleagues brought me here for dinner. They wanted something light - and so we went for steamboat which is the specialty of the house.

This restaurant is very popular with office workers and families alike. There isn't much in the way for decor (though it wasn't a scrubby place at all; it is afterall a restaurant) and the whole restaurant is always noisy; thick with the sounds of chatter and slurping.

Favorite Dish: The steamboat of course. You cook vegetables, meat (usually pork & chicken) and seafood in a hot pot of soup stock.

My colleagues claimed that the chilli sauce used as dips is a special recipe of the restaurant. It tasted good of course.

MK Restaurant: Steamboat - Thai style

Packed although we went at 10pm on a Saturday night. Food was ok but they had run out of beef by that time, which was a disappointment. :(

Favorite Dish: Steamboat was of course the main thing here. Roast duck was fantastic.... Meat was tender and well seasoned. The sauce really complimented the dish... Try this!

    MK Restaurant: Very Cheap Shabu-Shabu!

by litekimchi Written Oct 29, 2006

This is a cheap shabu-shabu, and it's scattered all over Bangkok. Service is fast, food is cheap. It's quite good, too. Worth a try. A meal for four only cost us about USD12.

Favorite Dish: Try the roasted duck! Don't forget the water chestnuts on ice.

    MK Restaurant: Hot pots/Steam boat

Asians love hot pots also known as Steam boats. Every time we visit Bangkok, we never miss going to MK. The soup base is delicious and we're never thirsty after eating there (thirst is a sign of MSG ingestion - an artificial food additive). You basically look at the menu (with pictures) and order what you need - pork, beef or seafood. When your soup base is starting to boil, chuck in the meat first (as they take longer to cook), followed by seafood, the meat should be ready by now, and then vegies as they cook faster.
There are branches throughout BKK, one at MBK and one at Siam Square, but I prefer the one at Siam Square - not as packed as the MBK branch with great window table views of the erm...BTS station, and better tasting food.

    Favorite Dish: Pork and seafood.
    Their Chrysentamum tea.

MK is a franchise of Suki Yaki restaurants. If you are new to suki yaki it is where you are given a pot on your table which contains boiling water. Some herbs are thrown in to give you a tasty soup. You choose from the menu what meats, veg, tastes, you want to add and these are brought to you. It is then up to you to decide what and when you want to add them to the soup and leave them to cook for a bit. You are given a big ladel to serve the soup. You will also have some sauces, condiments etc. to add to the soup to gice it a bit of spice or taste.

MK Restaurant: Good fun, decent food

by heryanta Written Jul 23, 2007

MK is a suki/hotpot chain of restaurants that is very popular with the Bangkok population.

They do not serve traditional Thai food but rather the Chinese style hotpot/suki.
The food is decent, nothing spectacular but it is a fun experience, going there with a group of friends. There's something about active participation in cooking (boiling?) the food you're about to eat that helps make dinner a little more fun than usual.

As with other local restaurants it's cheap to eat here - you can get a full meal for $5

MK: Tai-suki Dai-suki! (We love suki)!

by coboo Written Oct 15, 2003

We love MK! MK is a SUKI restaurant chain in Thailand. Suki is the Thai version of the Japanese suki-yaki, althought truth be told, it is much closer to Japanese shabu-shabu. You start with a pot of boiling water and add various veggies, meats and seafoods. You ladle cooked foods out of the pot and dip it in a delicious slightly-spicy sauce before eating. Also, soup lovers enjoy the broth at the end of the meal too. However, MK is great also for its green noodles, dipped in the same sauce and eaten cold, and its duck, which is divine.

Favorite Dish: Green noodles, duck. SUKI favorites are shrimp cake rollled in seaweed and morning glories.
