part two of my tip with more pictures around the silom village restaurant.

The Silom Village in Silom Area of Bangkok is a popular area for tourists who long for thai classical Architecture with assorted cultural shows at the entertainment hall and where you can buy authentic thai handicrafts from thai artisans (as they have a trading center here) and they even have a popular restaurant called the Silom Village Restaurant located in the compex which has a few branches around Bangkok. the one we tried is at the International Departure Area of Suvarnabhumi International Airport. The Restaurant is always packed with diners both western and asian but the service here is fast as this is an airport after all. It is located at the Concourse F.

    opens: 24/7

Favorite Dish: they have a large variety of thai specialties and the prices as at par for an airport restaurant. an order of pad thai is at 160 baht, an order of thai iced tea is at 90 baht, thai fried rice with toppings will start at 160 baht and chicken satay at 200 baht for 8 pieces. thai shrimp spring rolls at 250 baht an order. there are more selections to choose from.

Silom Village: Eat and Shop and Kick Back

by Bangkokjoe Updated Oct 23, 2005

Silom Village is a small enclave set back from the Thanon Silom main dual carriageway.

So it is contrived. So it is artificial. So because of these two points it has three significant advantages going for it.

One: Peaceful, away from the traffic

Two: Choice of Thai restaurnats in a pleasant setting - dance groups and traditional groupes often play

Three: If you dislike bartering at markets (as some do) there are fixed price stalls and shops that sell you most of the gear you see on the street. Some of my mates like it as it is handy to pick up last minute gifts for family and secretaries... when time is short.

So Silom Village probably suits those more focused on relaxing than on saving a few bucks and being in the thick of it. (And I'll always have a beer with my mates in here on a Saturday afternoon when passing.)

Favorite Dish: The food is not going to be like way up there at the top of Jamie Oliver going "all right then mum, let's get the lemongrass 'art and get on over to Thailand. Oooerrr. Loverrrly me ol' china". No. It's more like ...If you've always been content eating the chicken with the cashew nuts, the beef in oyster sauce, the sweet and sour pork, and the fried rice in the pineapple, then you'll find Silom Village a good mid-week-evening-filler place to go.

Handy for the Pat Pong / Sukhumvit markets afterwards when you are walking off that fried rice. Safe Silom Village. Bangkok for beginners. Nowt wrong with that either, me ol' fruits.

Silom Village Trade Center: Very touristy, but hell your a tourist!

Thai dance at silom trade village center

I went here with some family members and it was an alright experience. A little overpriced for the food that you could have gotten somewhere else-but hey, they have some Thai dance. There is a large thai seafood restaurant that surrounds the stage.

This place isn't worth it if you are coming from another part of the city. They have these restaurant/dance shows everywhere. It's good if you are close by and are tired and want something close by. Also, ify ou want to see some dance. Otherwise, stick to some of the other restaurants nearby.
