Street Food: My favorite restaurant was...
My favorite restaurant was most any of the street vendors. I don't understand how people go to a foreign country and then do things that they can do at home. Just my opinion

    Definately try Stuff

    1. Roasted pig : They have pieces of 'em roasted
on sticks sold for 5/10 bhats on road side stalls
(10/15 cents ) Pig is called Muu in Thai

    2. Roasted chicken....same as above (Chicken is
    called Kai in thai)

    3. Tom yam kung : prawn and lemon grass soup with
mushrooms (it is a very very spicy soup...please
tell the waiter to bring it with less spice and do

    Street Food: BKK streetfood
  • Satisfaction:
  • As poster #1 stated, there are tons of streets lined with food stalls even in the more commercial/financial areas where many Thai office workers go for lunch. Some also set-up only at night (for example the street that runs near the National Stadium (near Football Thai) that serves predominantly seafood. But each neigborhood/district throughout much of BKK have street-food stalls either during the day or night. Some are night-markets like near the Golden Temple Mount. then there are large departments stores or 'malls' that also have 'food courts' which are cleaner and still very cheap. One of my favorite street alleys which underwent a total remodel last year is the one at Siam Square that ends at the front of the Sala movie theatre.

Sometimes the best suff can be found on the street!!! It's easy to do along the main thoroughfares, especially since vendors congregate around touristy places (e.g. grand palace, et c). Even better was in nonthaburi, or up in the area around ramkhamhaeng university, where markedly less people speak English or other European language.

Mudfish over open coals with spicy sauce was awesome, as was the hot pot - similar to Chinese hoa gua (fire pot). And the fresh fruit - amazing!!! Honestly no better fresh food in my own travels has been topped by Thailand....

  • Street fare is scrumptious yet easy on the pocket. For 55 THB, you can feed two persons: 1 bag of rice (about 2-3 cups) at 5 THB, a bag of prawns or grilled fish at 30 THB and green mangoes with chili and salt at 20 THB.

    Street Food: Louisiana Style cooking
  • Satisfaction:
  • One of the best restaurants in Bangkok. They serve authentic style louisiana food along with a host of other menu items. The crayfish are excellent the owner raises them on his own personal farm in Thailand. The best service I have recieved in thailand. Its a nice quiet bar/restaurant which does get very crowded during dinner time. Its a favorite for the expat community that lives there. Some weekend nites they will have a a band playing. On tuesdays they have an all you can eat mexican buffett which I thought was really good. Living in Northern California I eat lots of mexican food and I was suprised at how good this buffet was.

I have two favorite dishes. The first is the rack of lamb. Cooked right to perfection with the regulatory dollop of mint jelly. Next would be the homemade pizza with fresh dough fresh sauce and fresh ingredients. You cant go wrong with this dish but it does take 20 minutes for them to make it.

  • Address: Sukhumvit/Soi 22 in Washington square.
  • Directions: When you make the turn onto Soi 22 coming off of Sukhumvit it will be the first drive way on the left. This is the washington square area. The Hotel/restaurant is all the way at the end of the square on the right hand side.

    Street Food: Street vendors
  • Satisfaction:
  • Sample the delights of the street vendors that come out at night, set up the calor gas stove, the giant woks and a few tables and chairs directly on the street. Simple food - noodles and vegetables - right through the impressive array of fish and sea food. Its cheap, its good and there's a lot of atmosphere.

Just wander round and take your pick
