Guess is one of the many urban trendy 20-something clothing company originated from the USA. One of their shops is located in Central World Plaza in Bangkok, among other mid-range fashion stores.
The clothes are bit provoking and a tad trendy, but still normal enough to satisfy the desires of the average 20+ consumer. So, chances are that you find something worth buying there. It has been designed so.
The prices are better compared to Europe, but not any real bargains... Unless you happen to be there during sale period, as then you can make real finds.

Monkey Gee is a local Thai young fashion chain that has been able to combine trendy looking clothes with a distinct style and inexpensive prices. This is probably easier to achieve in Asia than in Europe, but it is nice to buy stuff without paying too much for them.
One of their Bangkok stores is found on Central World Plaza shopping mall among Western brands. The store has a wide selection of clothes for both genders, and some of the stuff is really dirt cheap -- without looking cheap.
So, if you don't have enough t-shirts or shorts, head there to collect a couple.

I love the chain of Loft stores. They sell goods such as homewares, stationery, arts and crafts and gifts.
I visited the Loft stores at the Siam Discovery Center and at Siam Paragon Mall. It's located on the same floor as their massive bowling alley and multicinema complex.

Mother & Child is a children apparel specialist store in Central World Plaza shopping mall. They have a good selection of nursery items, such as talc for diapers, bottles and so forth -- so go there, if you forgot to pack something essential for your little darling. They stock also toys.
They have also a good selection of clothes with quite okay prices. Bangkok is not the cheapest place for buying children clothing, but sometimes the prices are really competitive. The service is, as almost always in Thailand, excellent. We got an extra travel size talc bottle when we bought a t-shirt -- these little gimmicks make you feel special.

If you travel to Thailand from any colder country -- like say Finland -- in the middle of winter, you might find it hard to buy any suitable clothes for your children for the trip. Fortunately, you can solve this problem by visiting Ovo in Central World Plaza shopping mall and buy quite inexpensive and stylish children clothes suitable for Thailand's warmth.
The selection is good for both girls and boys, and you should find at least a couple of t-shirts and shorts worth buying. The staff is very friendly and they speak enough English to make shopping a breeze compared to some other Thai shops.

Muji is the perfect shop for everyone looking for items that have combine form and function into a stylish and usable experience. Originally from Japan, the store can now be found in several countries, including also Thailand.
The smallish store is located on huge Central World shopping center on Th Rama I. The selection has a lot of office and household everyday items, such as pens, but there are also clothes and other a bit more expensive stuff, too.
Muji style is very minimalistic and there are no logos or any other commercial marks on them -- a rare exception in the modern brand driven world.

it is really difficult to make some kind of choice between all the markets and shops in Bangkok, there are so many. My favorit was the night market near Lumphini park, where the big wheel is, i thougth there was a much nicer choice of clothing there than in Chatuchak. Patpong market is more for all the fake gucci, versace, chanel,... stuff.
Then you have all the shopping centres, Siam, MBK, World Plaza,.... One thing i found out, you can go crazy in Bangkok shopping, so much choise.
What to buy: a little bit of everything. Don't forget to wear comfortable shoes, cause you are gonna walk a marathon.
What to pay: bargain, bargain

One of the easiest commodities to purchase in Bangkok is a T-shirt - no different to most other tourist meccas. There are plenty of fakes of the likes of Billabong, Ripcurl, Paul Frank, Fox, DKNY etc, lots of "Same Same" and novelty designs, and general sites of Bangkok shirts.
One of the cheapest places we have bought a great range of tourist T-shirts is at Wat Arun temple - where the shops are generally quite well priced compared to plenty of theres.
The most expensive places to buy T-shirts we found was at KhaoSan Road and Patpong - both of which are heavility touristed. However, if you want to buy what appeals to the younger generation, Khao San Road has the best range.
Take care though, if buying brands such as Billabong - caps, t-shirts and boardies - that some of the asking prices are about the same as what we pay in Australia (home of Billabong brand) on sale - for the real deal. Bargain hard!
What to pay: Between 100Bt and 300Bt - no more!

Always feeling fine when there is a shopping place for "personal care", like a chemist and pharmacy. In Asia you can find the pharmaceutical chain of WATSONS, also importing products from USA, Europe and Australia. It used to be the chain of health and beauty products and for now there are about 49 stores in Bangkok and 13 in BTS Sky Train Stations.
What to buy: All you need for "personal care", and special needs for "cosmetics manufacturers". Included the medicaments you may get at the pharmacy, too.
What to pay: Because of the imported products the price aren't that cheap! You pay about the same price you should at home ... (like 129 THB for headache-pills).
