This modern, air-conditioned shopping mall was like a world's away from the rest of Bangkok. All the designer labels like LV, Prada, Chanel had set up shop here. The mall also houses Kinokuniya and Asia Books bookstores, CD Warehouse, a multiplex cinema, and many other upmarket stores.

The anchor tenant is the Emporium Department Store which has a large shoe department for the ladies. The main attraction for me though, was Emporium Gourmet on Level 6. A supermarket/food court combination. Free tasting for several types of fruit were offered here and there were stalls selling all kinds of "street foods." If you ever wanted to try Bangkok's street food but wasn't brave enough, then your problem is solved here :)

The expansive seating area in the food court offered sweeping views of Bangkok. A great place to rest your foot and eat durians after a long day of shopping!

This mall is a rather expensive place to shop. But if you're a brandname shopper, then go straight there. Other than being an upmarket place, it's a nice place to do window shopping. A good place to have lunch or dinner, since there are quite a few restaurants there as well as a food court. There is also a good bookstore called "Kinokuniya". They have varied sections. It's a big decent bookstore.

    Everything from head to toes.

Seems like there is an on sale event every month, at least for the past few months. It's usually happening during the payday week.

The Emporium shopping mall is full of upmarket shops selling all sorts of designer labels - you can severely dent your credit card here! There are also some very expensive jewellers.

Personally I come for the shops on the upper floors, including the Kinokuniya and Asia Books bookshops, and CD Warehouse. Just my thing! There's also a handy internet cafe, a department store, a food court, and a multiplex cinema (run by the SF Cinema chain).

It's open from 10.30am (10 at weekends) until 10pm, and it's very easy to get to - it's directly connected to the nearby Skytrain station with a footbridge.

  • Kinokuniya is a huge bookstore. There are many sections for your own taste from fiction to decoration. There are imported magazines that you might not find at another bookstore.

    English books and magazines

Very classy and sophisticated with REAL designer brands and US Style Theaters. One of the nicest bookstore in town names as Kinokuniya has a great magazine sections and books. Also the clean and nice view along the Lumpini Park food court selection in the 6th floor in the right side of it.

REal Branded Bags, shoes, and appliances. Like LV, Gucci, Prada and others.

If you will buy LV bags an Amy Style will cost you $ 700 to more...

multi sotrey shop with designer outlets around it. But many Thai stuff to buy - mens shirts etc and children clothing excellent

first thing before you shop go to the customer service and get the Tourist Discount coupon - 5 pct on all items not on discount...you need a passport to proof as tourist.

Buy more than 2000 baht each day, and get the VAT claim Day By Day - on the level one just outside the girls dept store...near Prada shop I think

The Emporium is located at the heart of Sukhumvit, catered mainly the tourists and the expatriates. For the brand concious shoppers, the Emporium is one place that you should not need. Famous brand names are located under one roof at this place.

The Emporium sells everything that you need, ranging from food to fashion. One of my famous outlet, Boots Pharmacy, is also located in the same building as the Emporium. Famous Japanese bookstore, Kinokunia, is also located in the same building.

The Emporium is conveniently located next to the Phrom Phong BTS. And do remember to get your tourist discount card when shopping at the Emporium! I have gotten mine, have you?

The Emporium is probably my favourite shopping center in Bangkok. Why? you might ask as it is one of the more upscale one while there are plenty of others that offer cheaper goods?

    Variety.

At the Emporium department store itself I could buy a very nice cotton shirt (for work) for around $10-$12; and a Chinese collar suit (with matching pants and silk shirt) for $110.

If I want to buy nicer clothes there is the Jim Thompson shop, the father of Thai silk industry. If I want to splurge there is a Zegna shop there as well.

Go further up the mall there is a large Nokia and Sony shop where you can buy cool phones and gadgets that are not available in the US.
The large Kinokuniya bookshop has selections of English language books and the CD shop next to it has a large collection of Jazz music; both of which were life savers for English speaking expat like myself.

Hungry after all that shopping? Have lunch at Fuji, which from my other tip you know is arguably the best Japanese restaurant in Bangkok. Don't want to spend $8 on lunch? Fine, go to the top floor and eat at the Emporium food court where you won't have to spend more than $3 :)
