    Keeping fit in Bangkok

by balisunshine Written Jul 28, 2006

    2 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

    Several large hotels in Bangkok
offer a gym to keep fit and tone
    while traveling abroad.

One particular well equipped gym that
opens its doors to outsiders and just for the day
is Fitness First located at several locations.

There are gym machines to work every single muscle
and classes from 6:30 am till 8:30 pm offering
Body Jam; Body Combat; Body Pump; Abs; and the list goes on.

The gym is available to outsiders
    for 800 Bahts the day.

So, if all that eating Thai food
got you in the need to burn all those calories
come and spend the day at the gym.

    Watching Cricket

by Hewer Written Oct 31, 2005

If you find yourself in Bangkok and want to watch a cricket match taking place elsewhere in the world, head to Wall Street on Sukhumvit Soi 33. They show all major international matches and the bar has a nice laid back atmosphere. I've been there a couple of times over the past few years and they always show it on the big screen.

You can also watch cricket at "Bus Stop" halfway down Soi 4. This is an open air beer garden. This is in the heart of a red-light district but the atmosphere in the bar is fine. I wouldn't recommend it at the moment though because there is construction going on next door (due for completion mid-2006).

    The universal language

by TylerB Written May 29, 2005

Ah the race track, where everyone speaks the universal language of odds. For a spot of some of Bangkok's biggest characters, go to the Royal Turf Club on Sunday only. The stands are filled with screaming locals hoping to get lucky. My buddy hit his only bet. How many people can say they got a winning ticket in Bangkok? A must for sports fans. Entry is 100 Baht.

    Equipment: None.

At the topmost floor of MBK there is really nice bowling arena. Unfortunately, I don't have picture about it because photographying was forbidden and they were watching closely. However, it was really fun, the service was really friendly and it wasn't at all expensive (at least compared to the European prices). Check it out if you have time and it's raining or warm outside...

Equipment: You can rent them from there.
