Make a trip down to the Asia Hotel and watch this cabaret, starring the famed "Ladyboys" of Thailand. It gives everyone a chance to see what wonders the plastic surgeons of Thailand had performed on these former men...

Don't worry, the show's not at all sleazy. In fact, it's really entertaining, and some of the skits put up by the performers are hilarious.

At the end of the show, everyone will be invited to take pictures of/with these beautiful "women", for a small fee of course. It's also a chance for everyone to see how pretty they are up close.

The calypso cabaret is one of the things that i enjoyed during my stay in bangkok. Well coordinate dance moves, elaborate costumes, great peformance are all part of the agenda. The "ladies" are so beautiful that you can imagine that they were once men. It is advisable not to bring children along as there are a certain degree of nudity invloved.

    a singer in the cabaret

If you think that she-boys show are ridiculous then you'll amaze how great they perform this show.
They are very.. very..beautiful and entertaining.
Well, I saw them on stage with make up and costume. But still I admire the work of plastic surgeon in Thailand :-)
Don't forget to book the ticket first to travel agent or at your hotel or online because it's quite popular among the tourist, and the seat is often fully booked.

(don worry liadies its not those pron things)
The Calypso Cabaret in Bangkok offers you an evening of laughter, dazzling lights, beautiful 'women' and a lot of fun.

the Calypso Cabaret has two shows a night. The first at 8:15 pm and the second at 9:45 pm. With a capacity to hold 350 visitors the Calypso Cabaret is one of the biggest in Thailand.

Each night more than 50 performers (wow....)will amaze you with a spectacle that would not be out of place any where in the world.

Calypso Cabaret : great traditional 50's cabaret!

I've never seen cabaret in my life cause it's something old from the 50's-60's but this one is really great!

Unbelievable acts with great costumes and retro music, the acts switch very fast, the hour flys over cause the dancers don't bore the audience one second.

A show dedicated to the old stars like Josephine Baker, Marilyn Monroe, Tina Turner,... and some very popular French cabaret songs.

I recommend this show to anyone, young or elder persons, and would return everytime.
In the end you can get for free on the picture with the 'women' ;)
Don't mistake they are all men :)

First you can eat a nice buffet with typical Thai food while Elvis sings live...

    Leading Actress @ Calypso

Fantastic Cabaret... better known as the "Ah Gua" show... Definitely entertaining and very classy, nothing sleasy at all! So if you are looking for the sleasy shows... you are looking at the wrong place. The "girls" are so pretty. And they really do look 100% girls!

  • Entertaining Show at Calypso

I got to know about Calypso a few years back. Intrigued by it, I reserved tickets via its website so I could choose front row seats for my family. You are ushered to your seats when you enter and get free drinks with your tickets. The show started a bit late but we were entertained by 2 opening solo acts by Calypso "beauties" before the show proper. The emcee greeted the audience in almost every language of tourists who flocked to Thailand. You could hear loud cheers when a greeting struck a chord with a group. The show started with Calypso cabaret dance, followed by Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Gypsy and other themed performances that kept everyone enthralled with their costumes and choreography and yes the dancers too who looked as fair as the fairer sex. There was never a dull moment and we were given some treats of comedy from Geisha. After the Finale, you could have pictures taken with the dancers and may opt to give them some Thai bahts after taking a picture. Calypso is based at Asia Hotel. It's easy and convenient to get there by BTS and the station is connected by a walkway to the hotel. See it for its entertainment. I don't think anyone left disappointed judging by the faces and full house audience.

It is basically a dragqueen show and it was pretty good. Tickets can be bought more or less everywhere (from hotels to streetvendors). The show has got both funny acts and more traditional miming. The setting were great by the way. After the show the “actors” came out in the street so that that the audience could take photos of them. But I felt kinda “odd” when they started crawling all over me asking for change. I guess I’m just not used to that from back home.

If I'm not wrong, this show is unique only to Thailand, which started out in Pattaya then on to Bangkok. It's a show put up by a group of very talented 'ladies'. Some say that it's a trade that is slowly dying out. But i think it's worth watching because its eye-opening experience.
