    A private tour down the Chao Phraya River taking in the floating markets (take an early tour to catch this) and a snake farm. You pass Wat Arun Temple and then its a side trip into the back alleys of river life on the way to the snake farm. I didnt particulary like the snake farm and the way they pushed for donations all the time...it certainly didnt look like it was being spent on the animals. This aside it was a very interesting trip though.

    Life on and along the Chao Phraya river is most fascinating. You should at least once take a ferry across the river (e.g. from Wat Pho to Wat Arun) or even better, make a trip up or down the Mae Nam (as the river is also called). The river-taxis are extremely cheap (I never paid more than 10 Baht). See also my transportation-tips. When you stay in the Khao San area, the river is rather close, you can either walk there (10 to 15 minutes) or take a tuk-tuk. The station at the Taksin Bridge connects the skytrain with the river boats, so when you stay near the BTS, you can reach the river boats very easily, too.     When I was walking out of the grand palace; there was a group of people invited me to try the long tail boat tour. They said 800 Baht per hour for 3 people (I went with my 2 friends at that time) So, I tried it and it turned out to be not bad but if you take the tour early in the morning then you will see the water market which I did not see so much but along the way there would be some fruit sellers rode the long tail boats to sell you some fruits or fish food.
