Chinatown: Durian friut
  • Tip Rating:
  • Durian is very popular with local people. Some people say about it: 'Smells like hell, tastes like heaven'. The smell is really disgusting, and to my mind, the taste is not better :)

Chinatown: This is just a small part of Chinatown In Bangkok
  • Tip Rating:
  • Here we are just browsing which restaurant should we try as each of these small restaurants they do have their specialty. So to make a big change we walk in a dim sum restaurant where young children walk around tables offering some steamed fish, steamed pork . All of them where just so delicious. Our table was overwhelmingly filled up with about 15 little empty plates, each dish was more delicious than the rest..and the bill was hardly 15 Euros. Man! itīs super cheap!

    Chinatown: stuff in the bowl
  • Tip Rating:
  • Walking in the BKK street is very interesting.. We saw huge crabs, placed on top of each other and tied, dried flat squid of different sizes, elephants in the street. And - this strange substance... I'ts been 3 years since I visited Thailand and I still regret about not asking what kind of 'soup' was that.

  • Many Chinese people live in Bangkok. It is a very special experience to explore the narrow streets of china town, with their many jewellers and pharmacies with Chinese medicin.

    Chinatown: CHINATOWN
  • Tip Rating:
  • Chinatown of Bangkok was former meant the area called 'Sampeng', started when the Chinese merchants moved in 1780s after vacating the land where the Grand Palace now stands. In 1863, King Mongkut commanded the construction of New Road (or Charoen Krung Road) which runs over six kilometers from the Royal Palace till it drops straight into the Chao Phraya River, just south of Krung Thep Bridge now. The Chinatown expanded along Charoen Krung, Krung Kasem and the third road, the Yaowarat Road which was built between Charoen Krung and Sampeng. You must definately go to have dinner in Chinatown! Things there are pretty cheap and reasonable priced. Big portion too!

    Chinatown: Stroll through Chinatown and...
  • Tip Rating:
  • Stroll through Chinatown and shop for silk and other fabrics in Pahurat, the indian district. Chinatown is what chinatown should be: chinese markets, restaurants and gold shops. In a corner of Chinatown you can find Pahurat. This is a wonderful place to shop for thai-silk and other fabrics. The first time i visited me and my friend (which have good knowledge about qualities) bought more than 60 m. of fabrics while visiting Bangkok! Most of it I haven't gotten around to use of course, but whenever I need a neew evening gown or silk pillows I sure have a lot of colors to choos from ;o)
