Grand Palace / Wat Phra Kaew: Grand Palace
i was told if i were to come to bangkok and had to choose just one temple to see, this was the main temple i had to see.
Without a doubt, the biggest and nicest temple i have ever seen. If u only have time to visit one temple in bkk, i would say this is the temple u should go to then. Alot of tourists in there anytime of the year i heard. So get ur film ready, because there's gonna be alot of picture taking outside the temples.
Beware though... no video-cams or cameras inside the temples where u're suppose to take off ur shoes.
And remember not to wear any TANK TOPS, OPEN SANDALS OR SHORTS, or else u'll be borrowing their shirts/pants.
I actually had to borrow a red shirt, thank god it looked half descent since it wont look too bad for the pics.
One last thing..bring ur own bottle of water..i'm not sure if there is water to buy in there.
    Alright everyone...enjoy!!!

Grand Palace / Wat Phra Kaew: The royal compound
it was a great experience to see the history of thailand thru these palaces and it was created with great passion for art.
But since thailand is very hot and humid as always..if you plan to go here be sure to wear a very comfortable clothing but not too comfy because tops, sandals, shorts are not allowed in here..they have restrictions of the dress you have to wear.
bring umbrella too or wear hat.
enjoy this tour and its worth it.

Grand Palace / Wat Phra Kaew: grand palace
the grand palace, which is the former residence of the royal family, is indeed grand... there's wonderful temples and amazing buildings, and there are also several museums to vist. However, what captured my fancy most, was the huge golden (gilded?) stupa or pagoda... an unforgettable sight. Other things that I really liked were the frescos telling the story of the buddha near the entrance, and some chinese-looking statues in the shape of guardians.
The palace is open 8.30am to 3.30pm everyday (although tuk tuk drivers will tell you it's closed today) and entrance costs 200B (july 2002)

Grand Palace / Wat Phra Kaew: Must see wat and royal grounds
this is one of the most amazing sites in Bangkok to me. One of the main tourist sites. Beautiful temple buildings, great history and way to learn about Thai culture.

Highly recommend getting tour guide or can get audio guide in many languages. A little $ but well worth it for learning cultural aspects and history you wouldn't get from just walking around. Allow a few hours.

Wear conservative, non-revealing clothes. No shorts, sleeveless tops allowed. Some people told me they were not allowed to wear sandals. The tourists I saw who were not dressed properly were allowed to rent clothes by the main entrance, but another tourist i met was not given this option.

There are traditional Thai dancing shows. Inquire once inside the walls or check online.

The King and royalty sometimes come for cermonies, and there are also religious ceremonies , though infrequent. World leaders have stayed in the huge mansion guesthouse there. The King's sister's remains are housed in one of the buildings, and people come every day to pay their respects. Must wear all black conservative clothing for this.
