    These half human, half bird, male and female figures, Kinaree, can be found in the upper terrace outside the Royal Pantheon. These mythical beings are often depicted with musical instruments that they use to spread goodness in the world.

    I remember being told that one couldn't get in the grand palace if one isn't dressed properly. I wore a top with sleeves and cropped pants but honestly, they were longer than most that I saw who got away with not changing into skirts that just didn't match with your outfit. But, a rule's a rule so with a 100baht deposit or your ID if you don't have a hundred baht, you can borrow shoes, a top, or pants or a skirt...whatever you may need to be appropriately covered. How this one and a few others got away with baring legs, I have no idea since they checked everyone. She got quite a few stares from almost everyone who saw her but she seemed oblivious to it.

    The golden chedi is Phra Siratana Chedi, the one next to it is Phra Mondop, and beside it is The Royal Pantheon. The golden chedi is a reliquary, Phra Mondop holds Buddhist sacred scriptures inscribed on palm leaves, and The Royal Pantheon has statues of past kings of the ruling Chakri dynasty.

    You can resist taking pictures inside this Temple..look at those pretty and irresistible roofs? The recent visit I had was with my VT friend Syllybabe from Manila who visited Bangkok last week. We had alot of pictures to show! We arived @ the Grand Palce around 10am but we didn't get directly inside as Syl was advised to borrow a sarong as they told she has a cargo pants...ahhh..I can't understand them because we saw a lady in a skirt inside!!! Anyway, it was hot but we had a great time! I had almost 300 pictures=)

    I love photographing windows and doors and the windows in the Grand Palace complex are absolutely gorgeous. These windows are around the Royal Pantheon if I remember correctly.

    This chedi is reputed to contain relics of the Buddha himself. The golden mosaic tiles were imported from Italy.
