Puppetry is a traditional art form in Thailand. Traditional Thai Small Puppets, known as Hun Lakorn Lek, are about about 1 meter tall, each requiring anywhere from 1 to 3 puppeteers to control. The intricate carving, detailed painting, and colorful dress of the puppets combined with the great skill of the pupeteers makes them incredibly life-like and a great joy to watch. The puppets are used to enact scenes from the Ramakian, the story of Rama and most important story in Thai culture.
Performances are held nightly at the Joe Loius Theater in the Suan Lum Night Bazaar. Excellent family entertainment for both young and old!

When visiting Bangkok you MUST see the show at the Joe Louis Puppet Theatre. It is located near/in the Night Market. We almost didn't get to experience it as we could not find a cabbie who knew its location. Luckily we persevered and found it ourselves via the ferry, skytrain and subway. It is wonderful; we felt immersed in Thai culture and were in awe of the dedication and skill of the puppeteers. You haven't lived until the Monkey King has flirted with you and the Princess has welcomed you to the show. The musical instruments were fascinating, the staff was wonderful and the show was great - it was one of the highlights of our trip. Don't miss this experience; spread the word and enjoy!

This is a great night attraction. At 7pm, there is a lovely puppet show. The puppets are quite large and seem to come to life. The puppets tell the tale of the Ramayana.
After the show, the princess Sita and monkey Hanuman come through the audience. Hanuman gives kisses to to the ladies and is mischevious -trying to steal bags and be silly. Quite funny.
This attraction isn't only for children-most of the audience is usually adults.
There is a night bazaar around the area. It's mostly shops and the deals aren't that great as Chatuchak. More expensive. Lots of restaurants around. Even the Joe Louis theater has a restaurant.
