King Rama VII, also known as King Prajadhipok, (1893-1941), was the last absolute monarch and the first constitutional monarch of the country. His reign was a turbulent time for Siam due to huge political and social changes during the Revolution of 1932. Also he was the only Siamese monarch to abdicate.
The exhibition in the museum charts the life, activities and daily habits of the king and his wife, Queen Rambhai Barni. The first floor begins with her and their life in England after his abdication. The second floor focuses on his biography and lifework with his tastes in photography, music and sports. The third floor covers the subjects of the coronation ceremony, royal activities and visits to foreign countries.
Open: 9am-4pm daily except Mondays. Admission: 40B.

These buildings are situated close to the Suan Hong Residential Hall. They feature 23 royal carriages that have been used from the days of H.M. King Chulalongkorn. Among the exhibits is the Royal Landau coach; a two-seater vehicle from England, it was used for the royal khathin ceremony or the offering of saffron robes to Buddhist monks, or certain royal celebrations. The most interesting is a Royal State coach. This was formerly used as a royal vehicle for the opening of Parliament .

Located in Soi Charoen Krung 43. Exhibits lifestyles of middle-class Bangkokians during World War II (1937-1957). Such as kitchen in the old days, studying equipments, The objetive of the owner of this museum is to show younger generations how hard time their ancestors had back then.. like using of the old style pot to cook rice that needed lot of care and time unlike these days you just push one button on electronic one and wait.
Another objective is to make us realise where we came from, know our root.
Doctor Francis who built this house is an Indian gentleman who lived in Thailand and married Thai lady. He planned to turn this house into a clinic for the poor people so they could come to have a decent treatment without paying any fee, he would do it for help. Unfortunately he passed away too soon. But you can still see medical equipments in the house.. they keep everything.
The area is great. House is very beautiful.

On the bank of Bangkok Noi Canal on the Thonburi side of the Chao Phraya River is a large shed that houses the Royal Barge National Museum. Here you will find several of the ornate ceremonial barges used by the royal family for state ceremonies and celebrations. The most important of these is Suphanahong, the King’s personal barge, which was built in 1911 from a single tree and is 46 meters long. It is gilded and covered in intricate carvings, with a pavilion in the center to house the King and his family. Other barges have feature different figureheads on the bow, all taken from Thai mythology, such as Garuda, Naga, and Hanuman.
As impressive as the barges are housed in the museum, they would certainly be all the more spectacular cruising down the Choa Phraya during a ceremony, such as the Royal Kathin ceremony that marks the end of Buddhist Lent in October.

To learn about Thailand's rich history, this might be the best place. This museum is somewhat bland, but the informationj it gives is what makes it good. There are no "big attractions" just the good history lesson.
Details about the lineage of Thailands monarchy and the subsequent rise of resistance against it, are well laid out for all. While some of the photos are not labeled in English, everything else is.
King Prajadhipok was the 76th child and last born son of King Chulalongkorn (Rama V).

One of Bangkoks lesser known tourist attractions is the Corrections Museum. It is located in one of the buildings at the front of Romaninart Park on Maha Chia Road (not far from the giant swing). The museum contains actual weapons used for executions, tools of torture used to extract confessions from suspects, articles seized from criminals and photos of before, during and after actual executions. This museum is a grapic display of Thailands barbaric treatment of criminals in times gone by, and is not for everyone but it is very interesting none the less. Admission is free and an english speaking guide will take you on the tour. I did not see this museum appear on any tourist map that I saw.
