This museum, opened in April 2008, is located just south of Wat Pho and features exhibits about Thai culture and history through interactive displays, photos and pictures of Thai products and settings such as house arrangements etc from the Old Kingdom of Siam, Bangkok in the 60s to modern Thailand. The museum was very popular with school children when I visited and is housed in a nice 19th century colonial looking 3-storey buildings in 16 exhibition rooms.

On the first floor is "What is Thai anyway?" theme. On the third floor are the topics "Were the cavemen Thai?", "Where was Suvarnabhumi?", "What really is the heart of Buddhism?", "What was the origin of the Ayutthaya Dynasty?", "Who was the richest man in Ayutthaya?",and "Why did Ayutthaya wage war?". The next exhibition continues downstairs on the second floor dealing with the topics such as "What was racially pure Thai?", "Who inaugurated Bangkok as a capital of Siam?", and "Who drew the first map of Siam?".

Open: 10am-6m every day except Mondays. Admission: Free.
