Pak Klong Talat flower markets are the biggest wholesale markets in Thailand and are open 24 hours a day. They also sell fruit and vegetables. Every flower from around the world that you could think of is sold here at very cheap prices.

Most of the bigger stalls also offer flower arranging services for wedding, birthdays etc. The smells here are fantastic, I have never seen such huge arrangements of beautiful flowers, the smells and colors are amazing.

It is an extremely busy area and the markets are close to the Memorial Bridge.

A walk through Bangkok's Flower Market is both pleasing on the eye and nose. The place is a hive of activity nearly all day long. Some say it is best to visit early in the morning. I got there around 10.00am and the place was in full swing. Apart from the amazing flowers, it is great to watch the people making the floral garlands that are so much a part of Thai culture. The speed and skill of the workers is very impressive.

An flower market that is an amamzing picture of colours and aromas is only a short walk from the Memorial bridge, on the border of China Town. When we were there, we were the only tourists walking through the market, where the major hotels purchase there flowers. The big baskets of chillies, garlic etc add a touch not seen at many markets. Well worth the time spent walking there.

tired of walking around the market

as you can see from the photo, it says "I.C.P Flower Market". this place was somewhere near to Pak Klong Talat... we came here with great expectation of seeing a lots lots of pretty and fresh flowers. But it ended up we only saw most people selling veges and fruits. Maybe we went to the wrong entrance. But it was still an experience that we managed to see all kind of differents vege and fruit to be sold at this market.

Don't miss this place! This market was incredible and I enjoyed it just as much as seeing the Grand Palace Temple. In fact, I would put it on my "must-see" list of Bangkok attractions and would probably list it as number 2. It is quite large and open 24 hours. You can visit it around 2 or 3 a.m. when the flower shipments come in, but it was still plenty busy when we were there around noon. Such sights and smells!! You can buy flowers here super-cheap at wholesale prices. There are all kinds of flowers, and fruits and vegetables I had never seen before. There are lots of sellers making and selling flower ornament chains on its side streets, such as shown in one of my pictures. There are also lots of shrines inside, all sizes and sorts from fancy to plain, some Chinese, some not...since it is next to Chinatown you can also see evidence of the Chinese culture there. Also, lots of people and cats sleeping - they (the people) must have worked through the night and been exhausted. The vegetable section is the wholesale part located right next to the river where they are delivered (I think). We bought a bag of nice saffron for only 20 baht! At first we thought the lady didn't understand how low that price was, but she showed us on her calculator and sure enough... only 20 baht! They were selling many spices there also. Outside on the side streets are people selling flowers and fruits and vegetables as well as food. So don't miss this place, especially if you plan to see Wat Pho or Chinatown, since both are nearby. I think there might also be a night market nearby selling all sorts of things, I believe that may be near Memorial Bridge. My photos don't do the place justice.

See a wet market and flower market

    pest control at wet market

Bangkok has a huge wet market-right off the Chao Phraya river. This is very interesting since you see all the vegetables and fruits coming in. A lot of cats like to sleep in the vegetables. The workers didn't seem to mind too much about this-i guess they take care of the pest control.

Anyway, if you walk through the wet market-it leads you to the flower market, which is full of Thai orchids and other flowers.

You can reach this market by the Chao Phraya Riverboat. It's near Memorial Bridge Pier. It's best to go early. It's very colourful and pretty.
