An item that I'm glad that I did not miss.
We booked the Chao Phraya River Boat Cruise with dinner from the hotel's tour desk (paid about THB1,300 per person - yes it's expensive). Pickup at the hotel on a mini bus and after another pickup from an adjacent hotel, we were well on our way. Heavy traffic was encountered in the city centre as usual but once passed the city centre, the drive to the east side of the Chao Phraya River was alright.
Reached the jetty on time and after a short wait, the boat arrived to take attendance and alight previous early evening batch of customers.
On boarding the boat, we were given cold face towels and the host explained the essentials of the cruise. A bounded copy of the route and historical landmark was handed to each passenger with location clearly identified with number and the landmark itself.
Dinner was served during the course of the river cruise and the hosts take effort to explain each dish and level of spiciness.
Dancers performed at certain section of the trip but with my back towards them, I had not watched the dance performance.
LIKES:
too much to describe.
DISLIKES:
cruise to the Royal Barge Museum. The Royal Barge Museum was with the lights off and we weren't able to view the barges stored there as it was pretty late into the night and lights were very dim. The plus side was the cruise stops there and even turn the boat around in order that passengers on both side of the boat was able to view what is a darkened view of the Royal Barge Museum.

You have to experience travelling by the commuter river boat! Very practical, nice breezes, and quick way to check out the various Wats (temples).
Then, inland, head for the Sleeping Buddha temple, also the Emerald Buddha in the Royal Palace temple.
Also, experience the ultra modern Skytrain (BTS), as well as the cool air-conditioned Metro. For contrast, next try the local trains from Huampalong main train station. Enroute you'll see small river-boats of a different kind to navigate goods/cargo around! Quite quirky :-)
Head for Lumpini night market to see some Thai boxing.
For fantastic views whilst sipping some cocktails/beer, head for the Moon Bar and Vertigo @ Banyan Tree
To hit a beach, head for the not-to-far Pattaya :-)
For a good value hotel, check out The Mandarin at Rama IV/Silom Rd.
Enjoy Thailand.

Address: Bangkok
River of the Kings, this was once the life blood of the city, along with its Khlongs ( canals) buzzed with life, its still busy today as most of Bangkok’s main attractions lie along the banks of the Phraya , so it’s a great way to get around

Charter a boat to take you and a couple friends down the river. A 1.5 hr trip can run between 1000B and 1500B.
Enjoy the scenary, watch other fast boats zoom by, watch the local life, feed the fish in the river and visit some Wats (temples).
