Silom Village, Bangkok
We went to Silom Village for dinner/Thai traditional dance. To be honest it was just ok experience. The traditional Thai dance was a bit boring but the girls were beautiful and the costumes were colourful. The musicians play the traditional Thai instruments. The food is a set menu which brought to your table in traditional Thai style but the food wasn’t crash hot.
The actual Silom Village is worth visiting because it is the last Thai tradition old style village in Bangkok. In the village there are 15 teak houses owned by Mr Cheaw chong Pre back dated during the reign of King Chulongkorn Rama V in 1908. It was converted to restaurant and Thai handicraft shop in 1981. The village environment is relaxing and the Thai staffs were friendly.
Today Silom Village is a major tourist attraction and most evenings the village is invaded by local and as well overseas tourist.
This might be a tad too `touristy' for some but I think if one is rather tied up for time and doesnt quite mind paying a bit more - the Silom Cultural village is a 1-stop area where local customs and cuisines can be experiaced.
The Silom Village is a rectangular area and is considered as the central business district of Bangkok and is the Wall Street of Bangkok in One. It is here where most of the High Rise Buildings are located and where most of the international embassies and the offices of the multinational companies are housed. At night, the Silom District Goes alive with assorted nightmarkets at Silom Road, Patpong, the Patpong Red Light District, the Soi 2 and Soi 4 Silom Road bars and restaurants, the high end Lebua Sky Bar and Sirocco Restaurant and the Banyan Tree Vertigo and Moon Bar, to name a few. the nearest BTS Station is Sala Daeng from the Silom Line and the Silom MRT Station. Choose your activituy when going to Silom!
Ruen Thep, an evening entertainment, features traditional thai dance performing stories from classical thai literature and folklore in a truly thai ambiance. You can watch the show while eating a delicious thai dinner.
