This statue stands at the south-western entrance to Lumphini Park and is of Rama VI (1881-1925). His reign was characterized by Siam's movement further towards democracy and minimal participation in World War I. King Rama VI instigated the building of Lumphini Park.

This statue of Mae Thorani, the Thai Goddess of the Earth (borrowed from Hindu mythology's Dharani), stands in a white pavilion at the northern end of the Sanam Luang - the large field to the north of the Grand Palace. It was erected in the late 19th century by Rama V and originally attached to a well that provided drinking water to the public.

The Royal Equestrian Statue of Chulalongkorn (Rama V; 1868-1910) was finished in 1908 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the king’s reign. It was cast in bronze by Parisian metallurgist, placed on the marble base. It's located at the southern entrance of the Dusit Park and is more of a shrine than a mere memorial as Thai's express their religious devotion here to honour one of their previous monarchs.

World-famous, but there is hardly to find anything about their background. They are named BIDADARI, in Thai the Kinnari or "Bird-woman".
These female images do have the looks of a beautiful girl or lady, though the lower part of their body is the one of a bird! It is told the original images were memories of ancient creatures of female nature who travelled between the Upper- and the Underworld, like "angel-girls".
That is why they moved around like birds and, whispering like girls they told all kind of secrets to the people. I found this one along the road near Rama IV, and will place lateron the famous golden ones who are also at WAT PHRA KEO, the Royal Grand Palace. In Pattaya see these Kinnarai's in WAT CHAIMONGKRON (see link).
Isn't she a remarkable as well beautiful creature???

The Royal Plaza, located at the entrance to Dusit Park, is dominated by a statue of King Chulalongkorn on a horse.
On December 5 every year, the Royal Guard Regiment affirms its oath of loyalty to the king and queen at the plaza, with much pomp and ceremony.

The Victory Monument is a tall and impressive statue in the the centre of Bangkok. It is well worth a look, and the sculptor work as well as the symbolism of the monument is very interesting. Unfortunately, there is not a lot else in the immediate vicinity, so you may be content to view it as you pass over in the Sky Train.

If you're in the vicinity of the Marble Temple, it's worth walking the short distance around the corner to see the attractive equestrian statue of King Chulalongkorn (also known as King Rama V).
King Chulalongkorn was a great reforming monarch and was responsible for much of the modernisation that took place in Thailand during his long reign from 1868 to 1910. There's a great webpage about the King on the website of the university that bears his name:
