The centerpiece of the Suan Pakkad Palace Museum has got to be the Lacquer Pavillion. Although everything you find in the complex is interesting, the Lacquer Pavillion is truly a treasure.
Built around the 17th or 18th century, this Thai building was transferred from Ayutthaya to Bangkok after permission was granted to Prince Chumbot by the abbot of the Ban Kling Temple. He gave this as a gift for Princess Chumbot's 50th birthday.
In the picture is a portion of the inner wall that's painted in gold and black lacquer. The outer walls are carved wood.

Behind the wall in the far end is a private chapel. On special occasions, this hall is turned into a dining room. Interesting to note that whatever is under that red carpet can be turned into a dining table. How that's done, I didn't hear too clearly when the guide explained.
Note: There is a different guide for every house. Because they don't get as many tourists visiting the museum, the guides let you take your time and answer all your questions about the collections.

On the second floor of House 1, these 3 buddhas sit side by side in a glass cabinet. Each Buddha is different...the first one is Thai, the second is Indian, and the last is Burmese.
Beside these but not shown in the photo are two Chinese porcelain vases from the Ming Dynasty in a gorgeous, fiery orange.
There are several stone sculptures of Khmer art in the next room which were found by the princess near the Cambodian border.
I cannot express enough how interesting her collection is. I'm not one who loves museum artifacts but all the pieces in Suan Pakkad shows how rich Thai culture is.

On the ground floor of House 1 is the music room where a collection of Thai musical instruments are kept. This display of drums, xylophones, thai fiddles and gongs belonged to the late Prince Paribatra, the 33rd son of His Majesty King Chulalongkorn (Rama V).

Suan Pakkad gets its name from the cabbage garden that this area was before these houses were constructed. This museum, housed in 4 groups of traditional Thai buildings, is one that's often overlooked by visitors to Bangkok but one that I would highly recommend if you're interested in Thai culture and architecture.
You can go on your own but we went on a tour that combined Suan Pakkad and The Jim Thompson House.
Museum hours are from 9am to 4pm.

The one of attraction thing 's the lacquer pavillion as you see in the picture. Built in Ayudhaya period.
