This monument lies in the middle of a large roundabout in the Ratchathewi district, northeast of central Bangkok and is surrounded by traffic all around and the BTS Skytrain on its eastern side.
The monument was erected in June 1941 to commemorate the Thai "victory" in the Franco-Thai War, a brief conflict waged against the French colonial authorities in Indo-China, which resulted in Thailand annexing some territories in western Cambodia and northern and southern Laos. These were among the territories which the Kingdom of Siam had been forced to cede to France in 1893 and 1904, and patriotic Thais considered them rightfully to belong to Thailand. In fact the fighting between the Thais and the French in December 1940 and January 1941 had been brief and inconclusive. Only 59 Thai troops were killed, and the final territorial settlement was imposed on both parties by Japan, which did not want to see a prolonged war between two regional allies at a time when it was preparing to launch a war of conquest in South East Asia.
The monument is entirely western in its design, in the shape of five bayonets clasped together. The five statues, representing the army, navy, air force, police and civilian bureaucracy, are in a standard western "heroic" style, familiar in the 1940s in both fascist and communist states.

Victory Monument also know as Anusawari Chai Samoraphum is a large military monument in Bangkok. It was built in 1941 to commemorate the Thai "victory" in the Franco-Thai War .
The Monument is one of Bangkok's major traffic intersections. There is a BTS Skytrain station of the same name to the south of the Monument. From this roundabout you can get buses or mini vans to any part of Bangkok as well as Ayuthaya,Pattaya,Hua Hin & Cha Am. However there are no signs in English ,so make sure that you know the number bus you want .There are four different sides where buses stop and it can get very hectic at peak hour. The mad rush to get on buses to get a seat is intense .Rugby skills can be a big advantage here.
There are also many shops around Victory Point especially ladies cloths and shoes. In the evening here are some very good food stalls and little bars around here and Saxophone Jazz Bar.

Address: The roundabout Phayathai sub district.
It sure is the croudiest part of Bangkok, the main transportation hub, an area in between business and residential districts. The monument designed by Prof. Silp Peerasri, praising soldiers who sacrifice their lives in the Indochina War. Today, the place is famous for its low-key shopping complexes, namely Center One and around where you can find OK-quality clothing and all other fashion accessories (pretty much like Pratu Nam)

The Victory Monument was built to commemorate soldiers, policemen and civilians who gave their lives in the service of the country.
Around the base of the base are statues representing the army, navy, air-force, police and civil services.
Under the statues are bronze plates engraved with the names of people who died during the Franco-Thai dispute in 1943.
Around the monument there are also lots of shopping and eating areas. This area is extremely busy with traffic and pedestrians but is worth going to for photo opportunities.

Trust me this is not the sort of place that you have to go to, unless you like the traffic, as this monument is in the middle of a Roundabout in Central Bangkok - I had seen it from the BTS Skytrain so I wanted to give it a visit and a mention.
Standing Proud this is a monument to remember all the service personnel that lost thier life defending Thailands borders. The figures closer to the base of the monument represent the Army, Navy, Air Force and Police.
This is also the location of a very busy bus station and a lot of people use this junction as an interchange.
