One of the things I would very much like to do during my stay in Bangkok is to visit the famous Grand Palace and Wat Po. Before the tour, I was doing lots of reading up and asking fellow VTers about visiting these places. However, I was still lost at the route to take. But thank goodness, I came across a suggested walking route while reading the Lonely Planet guide and decided to modify the route and give it a shot while I was there.

Basically, alight at the Saphan Taksin BTS station and followed the direction to the Central Pier. Board the Chao Phraya Express boat and enjoyed your cruise along the river till you reached Tha Chang ferry stop. Exiting this stop, you would be greeted by vendors selling daily goods and local products. Enjoy the sight and sound and walked straight along the street till you reached the main gate of the Grand Palace. Along the way, do take time to absorb in the environment. The Grand Palace occupied a big space but after your visit, exit from the main gate and keep straight till you reach the main road facing the Tha Chang ferry stop. Turn left and take a slow stroll to appreciate the sights and vendors selling food. Do note that the locals would approach you and try to find out where you are going. Just ask them the directions but ignore what they say about the closure of the wats. The walk from Grand Palace to Wat Po is about 10minutes.

After your visit to Wat Po, you can take the ferry from Tha Tien Pier and make your way back to Central Pier. If you're not tired, continue to cross the river to visit Wat Arun at Tha Tien Pier. Have fun!

    Walking in the streets

One of the things to do is: Walking in Bangkok streets. From Wat Pho you can walking to other temples they are very near. Like: Wat Pho is very near to Wat Phra Khaew, Suan Saranrom Park, Wat Mahathat, National Museum etc.

The Skywalk at Central World opens from 6am to 12 midnight.

We walk from Chitlom BTS Station all the way to Siam BTS Station.

This walk will let u visit the whole shopping belt. It is a nice walk because the bridge is wide and spacious and is sheltered.

Thong Sanam Luang shortened to Sanam Luang also known as Thung Phra Mane (The Royal Cremation Ground) is surrounded by a lot of other attraction like the Grand Palace & Wat Phra Kaew. Along the pathway you can see lots of Tamarind Trees & a nice view of Wat Phra Kaew during sun set. Take a stroll here & you can ‘kill two birds with one stone’

Or stroll along Silom Road in the nighttime, where stalls sell pirate copies of computer games, dvd's, funny sweaters, football shirts and so on. This picture was taken when the market vendors were setting up their market stalls.

  • There are very few places in Bngk which gives you value for money. However you will meet men all around the city recommending you thier choices. If you do not fancy getting ripped , stick to the tried and tested. Darling & Mona Lisa are two highly recommended joints. The Place is clean and Service good. Besides if you hit the place early you can pick whom you want to be serviced with. At any good joint the price tag hovers from 2500 - 3000 for a 1-5 hrs. So dont try choosing a price tag and then looking out for an enjoyable, hassle free Turkish Bath.

  • Address: Darling, Soi 12 Sukhumvit
  • Directions: Around 50 feet from the Main SukhumVit Road , into Soi 12 enterance. Soi is street equivalent of any City. Walking distance from Nana , East meets West Mona Lisa is on New Petcburi Road, Would recommend to take a Taxi.

Well....you doesn't want to layback at your hotel room or pool after visiting Thai temple or amusment park.!The best way to see Bangkok and local daily activities is to strolling down in the street with full of sound and food smell. But do watch your belonging.Be safe better then sorry....

we passed by this place on our way to Chinatown from Wat Traimit. The entrance shows the word 'Tian Hua Hospital'. But from what i can see, there was a temple in the same compound area as the hospital. And you can see the status of The Godness of Mercy in the temple. I think they purposely built it beside the hospital so that the patients or their friends and relatives can pray for the best of their health. ^_^
