    clong boat

it's raining like hell, the roads are jammed - but there's a way out of the chaos --> use a clong boat to explore the city!

This is the main pier at ChaoPhraya River. Located within walking distance from What Phra Kheaw. It's the cheapest transport in Bangkok and more importance is you dont face traffic jam.

    Boat stops

In the figure below, there are all the stops that the local traffic boats stop in. The yellow one is the fastest and the most expensive one, whereas the white one is cheaper.

This is one of the hotel boats on the Chao Praya River. You can see the contrast between the old and the new on the riverbank.

    Khlong

Bangkok traffic is extremely congested. It can take up to a half hour to get a few miles by land. A good solution is to take to the water whenever possible.

Make a point of taking a ride up the river on a 'Longtail.' These long, slender boats race up and down the river, powered by a V8 engine mounted on a pivot.... a wonderful experience.

Use boats rather than road transport

The boatman's focus on the river traffic

The city is so jammed that using the boats, possibly combined with the metro, will save you a lot of time and offer you an interesting perspective.

The best way to beat the traffic is to use the water buses which go up and down the river all day long. They cost pennies.
