Flying Budget to BKK
UPDATE (December 2005):
Tiger Airways would come up with some great promotions once in a while, and I managed to get hold of 4 cheap air tickets (Bangkok-Singapore) for my December trip. Each one-way ticket costs me SGD 9.48, and that is less than USD 5 (exclusive of taxes)!!!
For my flight to Bangkok, we took Jetstar Asia, another budget airline. The tickets are more expensive, about SGD 68 each (excluding taxes) , but you do get allocated seats and more baggage allowance (20 kg, compared to a measly 15 kg for Tiger Airways).
The arrival of budget airlines (a concept alien to Singapore until recently) has changed the way people travel. There are now a number of budget airlines flying from Singapore to Bangkok, which is great news for die-hard shopaholics.
I tried "Tiger Airways", the BIG plus is its PRICE. I paid about SGD$150 for a round trip to BKK, including taxes! That is real cheap. The $$$ saved could be better spent on retail therapy....
The airline does not serve food and drinks on board, but you can buy snacks from the friendly stewardesses. There is also no allocated seats, everything is first-come first-serve.
This airline also flies to other destinations eg. Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Macau, etc.
Getting to Bangkok from Singapore

Being as regional centre in South East Asia, there are loads of airlines fly to Bangkok. I suggest everyone chose Bangkok as your base and take budget airlines traveling around the SEA area.
There is Air Asia flying within Thailand and between Malaysia.
There are Valuair, Tiger Air, JetStar Asia flying between Singapore and Bangkok.
Or you can fly local airline within Thailand, for example, Nok Air or Orient Thai, Phuket Air.
If you have lots of things to carry, then DO NOT fly Tiger( maybe Air Asia?! ), they only allow 15KG per passenger.
Personally, I prefer JetStar Asia although I flew Tiger.
