I must say I had much better fares with metered taxi’s than with Tuk-Tuks. The Tuk-Tuks drives inflate prices hearing if you don’t want to go to a shop/emporium with them (for their commission) Do bargain with both taxis and tuk- tuk drivers. Theme: Other

I think if you stay in Bangkok, you should at least once have gone with a tuk tuk. It´s an own experience. They are loud and stinky, but I thought they fit to perfectly to Bangkok, you gotta try. But they are also very annoying as they approach you all the time, when you walk on the street, if you wanna ride with the tuk tuk. Negotiate the price before you go!!! They always try to charge you the triple price! Leave a Comment Theme: Other

If you like to get around Bangkok city/ sightseeing for a few places, you can get the yellow-platted tuk-tuk for 50b. for more than 3-4 hours. (80b is expensive). It is better that you show him the map for the all the location you intent to visit. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

If you're travelling distances of a km or less, it should cost no more than 10baht. and never let tuktuk drivers recommend you where to eat..they're in cahoots with the restaurant owners Leave a Comment Theme: Other

In the city, the Tuk Tuks are notorious for being a tourist trap. dont get me wrong though, they are great fun once you dont get ripped off! there seems to be 2 different types of tuk tuk driver- privately run and the publicly run. the public ones seem to wear a navy blue shirt with yellow stitching for the badges. these seem like legitimate guys who will charge you a fair fare. the other sleazy guys are crooks, and sometimes wear imitation shirts to trick you into thinking you are taking a government Tuk Tuk. they will offer you rediculously low prices for a fare only to take you all around the world in the process, including an average 3 stops to gem stores, gift shops and tailors. do yourself a favour and agree the fare (with "NO STOPS") before you get in. or else take the blue and red taxis, insisting on the meter of course.

Just had to take a ride in a genuine Tuk Tuk. I read that they are in danger of being phased out because of pollution worries which will be a great shame if they are. They are such an exhillerating experience but not for the faint-hearted. I wouldn't recommend it if you have children with you as the other drivers on the road won't care! Negotiate before you leave. Also, they will try to take you to a restaurant (not the one you asked) because they receive money from the owner if they bring client. Fermly refuse and reconfrim where you want to go. THEY MAKE AS IF THEY DON'T UNDERSTAND WHERE WE ARE GOING... but they do!!! Also, you shouldn't pay more than 200 baht, by the law... but technically, for 50 baht you can go around your hotel. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Negotiate the price before getting into a tuk-tuk. Beware, the drivers are recklessly fast and swerve around corners at lightning speed, ignoring other traffic - an exhilirating ride to say the least! However, it is an experience not to be missed! Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Normally first timers in bangkok take tuk tuks, you tell them to go to a wat or someplace x ,and they will take you to a tailor or to anybody who give them comission..I think that they normally never do what you want to do, try taxis same price or less, air conditioning and less dangerous. and no bargaining....if he doesn´t put taximeter tell him to do....I´m not telling to not use them because in bangkok is a must..you need the experience at least once.
