 | Bangkok Tuk-tuks Reviews | Tips 131 - 140 of 166 | | This is a must try if it's your first time in BKK.....it may be more expensive than taxis though but it can be exciting and more airy instead of a stuffy aircon cab especially if you're stuck in the traffic. Be careful of getting ripped off though as I was once brought to a location the driver said was Chinatown but it wasn't, and another time was overcharged when the location just a few streets away. Tuk Tuk are usually faster in the traffice than taxis or busses. There is no meter so you have to ask for the fare and do a little bargaining :) Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Tuk Tuk drivers are the most annoying business men I have ever met. Everywhere they ask you to drive you... I did it once after having got to know the city a little bit. I knew the taxi fares and was in a better position to negotiate the price beforehand. Otherwise they rip you off. It's fun once but then I preferred the airconditioned taxi without having to inhale exhaust fumes. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Tuk Tuk's are everywhere in Bangkok...they buzz around the streets all over the place. You will easily find Tuk Tuk's anywhere where you find tourists and they will take you anywhere for fairly cheap prices. They can be a bit hair raising if you're not used to driving fast through traffic but they are also a lot of fun!!! We were told not to scream or laugh too much because it would just make the drivers go quicker...hehe... Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Tuk Tuks are extremely recognisable simply by the amount of noise which they give off when they drive you around. Most will take u anywhere, within a certain distance, and the amount will be the same regardless of how many people u fit into one! Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Tuk-Tuk Venturing out after taking in to consideration all the advice about transport in Bangkok. With out directions to the IT centre in hand we approached the first Tuk-Tuk waiting outside the hotel. We stated where we wanted to go and negotiated a price, as per the advice. Once we were sat ready to go our driver asked again where we wanted to go and then halved the price if we went to the spectacle shop. We said no just to Pamthip Plaza. He then wanted to take us to the diamond shop. We said no! The craft shop? We got out and waved him away, as per the advice. The second driver took over asking where we were going and negotiated the price and of we went. This was our first experience of Tuk-Tuk and the Bangkok traffic. All the warnings we had been given, that we had ignored were true. A Tuk-Tuk ride in Bangkok is attempted suicide, if not from some terrible pile-up as Bikes, Cars, Tuk-Tuk, Lorries and Coaches all jockey for the best racing line around corners and road position (or should that be possession). If you survive that there is carbon monoxide inhalation. You may as well attach a hose pipe to the exhaust; if that is you can find one. The other problem is that you can almost guarantee that the driver has no idea where you want to go, he will drive around looking. It must cost them more that you actually give them. So with life threatening levels of noxious gases, death deifying banger racing and travelling from the middle of nowhere, to the middle of nowhere. Then go to the city, big city, Bangkok and take a Tuk-Tuk ride Theme: Other
