To call this place an unnamed restaurant is unfair as it has a name but I just do not read Thai to make sense of the sign. Perhaps some kind Thai speaking VTer could enlighten me. I popped in here one lunchtime for a bite to eat. I have to say, for a place this size it was completely deserted and with only one member of staff there. I can only assume it is busier at night.

There is no menu but by dint of a bit of pointing, and the young lady's halting English, I was able to order a dish of fried rice with seafood. Whilst unspectacular it was tasty enough and very filling. With a large Chang beer it all came to 120 baht, which I suspect may have been slightly inflated compared to other places around, although still inexpensive.

Favorite Dish: Fried rice with seafood, as above.

This is a fantastic small cafe bar run by Monique and family.
We would go there for coffee, after our post breakfast stroll from The Regent Hotel, close by. It was nice to stop off for a beer and a chat if we passed by a bit later in the day, and the watermelon shakes were pretty good too.
We didn't eat there, but we saw people having breakfast, which looked really nice. We did hear some very favourable reports on the quality of the food.
It was nice chatting to Monique, before heading off to the beach. She couldn't do enough for you, and is very helpful with any information you may need.

Favorite Dish: Didn't eat there, but we know the full english breakfast was good. They did Thai food to a good standard by all accounts.

This is the nicest venue for a night out in Cha-am. The staff are friendly and their english is very good. The food is fantastic and they have big glass door that let you see in to the kitchen so you can see how clean it is. The host and his wife are from Ireland and go out of their way to make sure that you are comfortable.
you have to make a trip to realise this place is totaly different from the other places, for a start the owner has been a head chef in the UK and Ireland for over 30 years and prides himself on the highest quality of service!

Although a lot of the prices were the same as other venes, obviously some of the dishes are slightly more expensive, but you are getting a better quality of produce and the surroundings are worth it!

Favorite Dish: My wife loved the steak, it was served on a hot slab of granit with a jacket potato and salad
personaly I enjoyed the chicken chilly cashew stir fry. we used to leave the beach just to grab a plate of this for lunch!

Poom Seafood is towards the northern end of Cha Am beach and it is the place to go for delicious fresh well priced seafood and Thai food. The restaurant is extremely popular with Thai families and you can sit in air conditioned comfort or outside watching the world go by.

As usual we ordered to much food, their seafood fried rice is the best we have had, full of crab, squid, prawns, fish and scallops. Our bill here for a couple of drinks each plus food was 700bht.
Make sure you read the menu in the photos, some very different meals on there!

One of our favorite meals in Cha Am was at a local Thai restaurant where they were cooking the whole pig over a barrel on a hand turned rotisserie and barbeque chickens. You will see many of these local restaurants selling pig and chicken on the main road heading down to the beach front road.

I do not know the name of the place and the menu is in Thai, but the Thai girl serving us was fantastic, we wanted to try the chicken and pork so she suggested 1/2 kilo of pork, 1/2 a chicken and some sticky rice.

I also ordered a large Pepsi and Gary a large Singha, then we saw a staff member running over to road and coming back with the bottle of beer , now that is service.

The food was delicious and the dipping sauces were sensational, especially the red hot coriander sauce, it was so hot, my eyes and nose were running, but the taste was just amazing. Our food plus the drinks was only 325baht.

You can also order these pigs for parties etc, the whole pig only takes 1.5 hours to cook and cost 4,000baht. The photos below show the pig once cooked being wrapped in plastic, it is then put in the back of the truck along with a few big bags of dipping sauces.

Bann Pantai Restaurant is part of the Bann Pantai hotel which is at the northern end of Cha Am Beach. I really enjoyed it here, sitting outside under the palm trees watching what was happening along the beach front. The restaurant is very popular at night time with Thai families as it is supposed to be one of the best places for seafood.

We went for a late lunch so it was very quiet but the food was lovely, very tasty and cheap. Their drinks are very strong, I ordered a Black Russian and it was powerful, had to order a bottle of coke to go with it and they had to bring me more milk for the White Russian. Gary was a bit off on this day so he had a couple of fruit shakes haha.

We stayed here for quite awhile relaxing and people watching, there was a beautiful cat who lives there and she was so friendly so how could we leave!

Neeshy Cafe is Australian owned and on the main road that goes down to the beach road. I started off with a prawn cocktail which was huge for 90baht then I decided to have my first steak in 3 months so ordered a big T Bone with lots of vegetables for 260baht. Gary ordered the pies and vegetables for 200baht which I also tried and the pies were delicious.

Drinks are also very cheap here with a small Singha costing 50baht and a Bacardi and Coke 70baht. Everything was good to start with here, the food was great, the prices were good but there service was totally unacceptable.

Once our food came out we were total ignored, empty plates left on our table for over 20 minutes, empty glasses - the waitress was just to busy talking on her phone. We were the only customers and the owner was there with a couple of people but said nothing to her.

We would have stayed for a few drinks but in the end after waiting for so long Gary went up to the waitress and asked for our bill, so she reluctantly stopped talking on the phone and organized our bill. Such a shame as Neeshy Cafe is a nice place that was let down by terrible staff.
