Boat Stalls at the Damnoen Sadual Canal: the boat stalls in Damnoen Saduak Canal
like what i've said, there are two major areas to shop, the main market and the "floating market" in Damnoen Sadual Canal which is the floating market itself as the sellers here are housed in their own wooden paddl boats and long tail boats and they sell practically the same stuff as in the market proper but if you want to experience buying in the actual floating stalls in the Damnoen Sadual Canal, then take the wooden paddle boat ride for 30 to 45 minutes as the boatmen slowly paddles around the canal where you can buy anything you fancy as the boat sits next to a particular stall that you want to buy anything. the boat sellers knows a smattering of english as this is a tourist town so you can shop or eat all you want while traversing the canal during the 30-45 minute wooden paddle boat ride.
What to buy: all the items you can think of and some more, like assorted silk products, assorted shirts and garments, assorted fresh local fruits in season, assorted thai dishes and desserts, souvenir stuffs like post cards, shot glasses, key chains, fridge magnets, leather wallets, buddhist figurines and more
What to pay: again, you must haggle as they tend to mark up the prices significantly to tourists

Floating Market Shops: Shops at both sides of the Floating Market
There are actually two shopping areas in Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, the main market occupying both sides of the big canal and the sellers on the boats in the Canal Itself. They both have practically the same goods and items to sell but if you don't want to ride the wooden paddle boats to shop due for fear of water or something, then you can just walk around the main floating market stalls.
this review will be on the floating market itself.
the Damnoen Sadual Market has two one storey commercial structures that lies parallel to each other at the front of the main canal and is about 800 meters in length and walking about these areas offers a cornucupia of sights, smells, merchandise, local crafts and more. like in a typical market, there are many items you can buy and is packed full of locals and tourists on a day trip.
the floating market is open from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm everyday
What to buy: all the items that you can think of, like fresh fruits, thai food, thai street food, thai sweets, t-shirts, skirts, shorts, posters, local paintings, wooden carvings, post cards, hats, silk wares and other kitchy stuffs.
