Thailand travel itinerary

by bulldogtwo

To answer the latter part of your question, if you are not interested in seeing the coastal part of the Andaman from Ranong south then you would be much better off flying into Phuket. Catch a bus from there to Khao Lak and the head to Khao Sok from there. Phuket airport to Khao Lak is anout 90 minutes or less. Maybe another 90 minutes to Khao Sok. We rented a motor bike and rode from Khoa Lak to Khao Sok and it was a fun ride.As far as your itinerary goes, it still looks a little bit packed. Some of the places you have on the itinerary, by the time you get in will be noon or afternoon and you'll pack up and leave again the next morning to get into your other location at a decent time. A lot of running with little time to experience a location. But, up to you!

Thailand Itinerary

by bulldogtwo

In my opinion, I would do less to see more. Your itinerary i spretty full and it looks as if you are not taking into account for travel time. Doable but you are going to be on the run and frazzled by the time you finish your trip, not what holiday is for. So, looks as if you are looking at about 3 weeks or less total time.I would spend a couple days in Bangkok, see the sites and there are many. Kanchanaburi is doable in one day but an overnight is better. Erawan National Park is great! Were you to do Chiang Mai, which is great I would elect to do at least 3-4 days and then you are not going to see as much as you'd like. And actually I would say do not stay in CM for all of those days, get out to the country and see what northern Thailand is really about, another two days minimum. So either one would be fine depending on how much time you want to spend. As far as going south, Ranong is fun...

Thailand Beaches and Islands August

by sarahreynold

In July and August places with beach like Koh Samui are in fact very busy as the weather is quite ok. You also have mainland beaches along ther Sunrise Coast such as Cha Am, Hua Hin, Pranburi and Bang saphan where although you may get some rain the climate in much drier than you would expect. For Koh Samui and Koh Tao, Koh Phangan would be quite busy and lively.

Thailand Beaches in July and August

by sarahreynold

In July Koh Samui is very busy as the weather is far better than in the Phuket and Krabi areas. Koh Samui is a very busy tropical island. if you want snorkeling and quieter try the nearby Koh Tao. If you just want a beach to relax, restaurants, night markets, parks etc try Hua Hin, couple of hours by cab from Bangkok if you just need a few days break from Bangkok. Beaches not so great but it's one of the driest areas at that time, also near Bangkok and plenty of places to stay, budget up to top 4/5 star like Sheraton, Hyatt, Marriott, Hilton etc

Getting Around

by 71stuman

I offer this tip to all areas of ThailandWhen you arrive at your hotel and check in ask the receptionist for their buisness card, the buisness card is in ENGLISH on 1 side and in THAI on the other. This makes it easy to get home after an enjoyable meal or a day of shopping, as many of the taxi drivers and tuk tuk drivers don't understand english very well.

Temples, temples, temples

by victorwkf

Visit as many temples as you can ..... There are a few thousand temples in Thailand, being predominantly a Buddhist country. Each temple is unique and is an enriching experience into the deep cultural Buddhist roots and history of Thailand.

Visit to Ayuthaya

by victorwkf

Although Ayuthaya (anicent capital of Thailand during Ayuthaya period) and Bangkok are only one hour apart by car, they are worlds apart. Unlike Bangkok, Ayuthaya is a peaceful and simple city with little high rise buildings, pollution and vehicles. The most impressive memory about Ayuthaya are the magnificient ancient temples and the relaxing and calm water of Chao Phraya River. This is definitely a good getaway from Bangkok.
