Fondest memory: The main concrete fishing pier is close to the city centre. The beach area right here is muddy, with fishing boats on the left side of the pier. The beach hotels starts 500 meters and further 2 km on the right side of the pier.

    November rain in Hua Hin

by bulldogtwo Written Aug 20, 2008

    2 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Favorite thing: For the most part the rainy season should be over. You may still get some rain and cloudy days, but the rain will only last a short time, 15 minutes, 30 minutes and then stop. A lot of the times it'll just rain at night.
    have fun

  • Cha Am, Hua Hin and Pranburi

by sarahreynold Written Jul 20, 2008

Favorite thing: Cha Am and Hua Hin flow into eachother. depending where you stay in Cha Am you would be no more than 10-20 minutes maximum into the center of Hua Hin.
pranburi is different as that is a good 35-45 minutes south, again depending where you stay.
There is no point staying at different places. I would stay in Hua Hin from where you can take tours to the nearby national parks, visit the Elephant village, take the day trip to Bang Saphan and Koh Talu for snorkeling.
In both Cha Am and Hua hin there are excellent top hotels and resorts, you have not mentioned though your budget. Hyatt Regency and Sofitel are excellent, also you have Marriott, Wora Bura and Hilton ( though I am no fan of the Hilton as it is a tall high rise ). The Anantara and Alisa Suites are north of Hua hin town on the way to Cha Am, then you have the Sheraton, Dusit Thani, Holiday Inn, Courtyard by Marriott.
There are some excellent boutique hotels in Hua Hin, the Baan Bayan is classic in style.

I have never heard of any hovercraft service. from Bangkok you can travel by taxi or limousine service, those are the fastest, by train is about 4 hours. If you are on a budget frequent express buses.

  • Hua Hin Weather and accommodation in January

by sarahreynold Written Jun 2, 2008
Beach in Hua Hin at Hua Don Khao Takiab

Favorite thing: Wearher should be fine in Hua Hin in January. You certainly must book accommodation in advance as it is peak season. if you arrive without booked accommodation you 'may' find some place to stay but you would have to take whatever accommodation is available - you would not have been able to choose in advance.

    Elephant Riding Takiab Bay

Favorite thing: Hua Hin Town has a relaxing charm, the fishing piers, the quiet streets, but as Hua hin becomes more busy don't miss the surrounding areas. Cha Am is just 20 minutes away, try a trip at the weekend when it's busy with visitors from Bangkok and you enjoy the fun atmosphere, or weekdays when it is quiet. Take the Green pick-up bus from the Central Market ( just 7 baht ) and journey 10-15 minutes south of town to Khao Takiab. This is a lovely area where you will find Temples, the famous Golden Buddha, plus the great clear waters of Hua Don beach at Khao Takiab Bay. Relax on the beach loungers and beach chairs, have a meal on the beach, elephant ride, the Banana boats, maybe Jetski(be careful ! ) or just wander around the fishing village. You can also rent bicycles and explore the famous temple areas. Nice cafes and restaurants. If you go to Hua hin and don't spend time at Khao Takiab and the beach at Takiab Bay you are missing one of the best beach treats Hua hin has to offer. The beach is long and the water is crystal clear, it actually faces more south. Also get into the hills behind Hua Hin, also Elephant rides and a great view. Don't forget Pak Nam pran and the Sam Roi Yot National Park too.

Fondest memory: So glad that I discovered Khao Takiab Bay, Palm trees and beachchairs, cool clear water, certainly the best beach !

Visit the Hua Hin Tourist Info Center

    by iNorv9 Updated Dec 26, 2005

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Favorite thing: I highly recommend that you stop by the Hua Hin Tourist Information Center. Here you'll find all sorts of free maps and brochures to help you decide what to do. I knew next to nothing about Hua Hin before arriving, and was able to organize a pretty interesting trip based primarily off information gathered here.

Location: The intersection of Damnoern Kasem and Phetch Kasem Road, two blocks east of the train station.

    Hours: 08:30-20:00 daily

    PEACE AND QUIET IN THAILAND

    by mamasan69 Updated May 28, 2005

DISTANT SHOT OF OUR GUEST HOUSE-Hua Hin.

Favorite thing: I would take others to explore around the city and in the ocean or beach. My time was spent doing this activity during my stay here, and it was a nice relaxing end to my journey.
****UPDATE****I have plans already to go back to Hua Hin with my girlfriend and her friends in September.

Fondest memory: How good I slept may be the best memory, as the waves washed underneath me as the tide came in. This helped add to the peaceful time that I had while in Hua Hin.
That was the good part of my sleep, the bad was the rock hard bed I was sleeping on.

    Beautiful Bath Amenities Display

Fondest memory: I love the shower gels, shampoos, conditioner and moisturizer that they provide. It has an unique scent of mint mixed with sea breeze. Wonderful combination. Frangipani flowers are also used in their decoration of the rooms.

    sunrise with the fisherman

Favorite thing: As I've said earlier that in the other side of the hill of Takiab, people are into fishing..Even beside the beach they were catching fish? I wander if they can have something..But, I just notice them they don't have boats so they're fishing beside the beach with the fishing gear like the net! This area isn't good for swimming but it's clean and the water is very cold! Hubby and Baby swum very early at 7am!
