The small settlement of Ban Salak Kok is a great place to visit by itself and for good food and relaxed atmosphere - well worth the outing from the west coast.
However, the key thing to do here is to paddle, row, boat among the mangroves. This you can do on the cheap or get the full set with food and drinks served out in the mangroves. If you have not seen mangroves close up before or understood the mangrove/mud flat tidal ecology, this is your chance to learn something.
The main restaurant her serves real Thai food, not modified for the ketchup crowd. Very, very good. And local raw materials.
It is an interesting community out here, houses on stilts, connected with board walks.
Do not miss this place when on Koh Chang, even if it is a bit out of the way.

This is the best Thai massage in Ko Chang !
I have tried Thai massage in many places before but this is one is the best.
If your used to get Thai massage from a lady that's good but if you want to have the best experience ask for Mr. Saweng.....He's the best. There is no better way to have a massage other than a man with experience and believe me Mr. Saweng is the best :)
The location is quiet and really clean....
You even get you own massage shirt and pants so your clothes will stay clean.
The prices are the same or cheaper and the location is really nice.
After the massage you'll even get refreshing fruits and tea from Vie the owner who is a really nice lady.

There are many Islands to see around Koh Chang. Most hotels and resorts will arrange tours at various prices.I booked a boat tour to 3 Islands, snorkelling and lunch at Blue Lagoon for 450 baht. It was an enjoyable day of swimming and diving. We saw lots of fish ,coral ,people and explored a number of small Islands. This is a great way to get a sun tan or sunburn so don't forget a good blockout

Most of the beaches in Koh Chang are on the west side of the island.
Since I was Koh Chang during the rainy season, I didn't find any of the beaches as good as the beaches in the southern-Thailand.
Most of the beaches are on the west side of the island. The best beach in Koh Chang is maybe Lonely beach.

We rented Kayaks from a hotel/bungalow and Kayaked 45 minutes out to a few different islands... make sure to get an earlier start than 3pm! Other wise .. the tide makes it a little difficult to get back to shore ;)

We were travelling with 2 small kids, so we don't want a big full day tour. Only want to visit an island near by and leisure on the beach for few hours. So the agent recommend to go to the Koh Whai for half day. We leave from our resort around 8:20am and return from the island around 1pm. This sounds perfect for us.
Around 50mins by boat from Bang Bao, here we are in this beautiful island. There are only 2 restaurants, and few bungalows along the coast. Water is very clear, swimming, snorkeling is good. Many fish in the shallow water to see just like PhiPhi island. The island is very peace and quiet, even with few boats of day tours visitors, the island didn't loose it's charm. It's worth a visit.

The river is so nice, clear and fresh!!! You can kayak to the beach or up inside the island which will be a very good exercise if you go that far toward the waterfall which the stream will getting stronger.
......I came back and cried all night cause of muscle pain!!! but fun!!!
It was very joyful kayaking....we stopped and play in the river.....fresh water with nice touch of sand and rocks under my feet :D

Ko Chang is a mega place to go if you want to escape from it all and are fed up of the tourist trap that is becoming Ko Samui, Phuket etc... Its a beautiful island and is still largely unspoilt with glorious beaches. You can do all kinds of things there from island hopping, diving & snorkelling, waterfall trips etc.. Its also got some really good places to eat (along all of the main beaches) and hang out watching the sun go down. Well worth visiting and much nicer than Samui.
Check out Coco Dee Bo Tours in Klong Prao for excellent deals on trips. Nice people running it (Thai lady called Bo and English guy called Colin). You can't miss them on the road down to the main beach. They're very competitive on prices. We will be using them again when we go out next as they can also sort out transport from Bangkok as well as accommodation.

There is a waterfall near Klong Prao Beach which is easily accessible from Klong Prao Beach. The waterfall is inside the Nationalpark for which there is an entrance fee of 200 THB for foreigners. From the park entrance it's a 500m walk through the jungle to get to the waterfall. There's a nice pool where you can cool down after the walk, so bring your swimmers.
