At the town of BanPhe, you'll come across stalls selling all types of food snacks and local produce.
Thailand is a major exporter of foodstuffs so it would be a good idea to check out the local produce.
The snacks are usually made out of local fruits or seafood. While you can find these snacks everywhere around Bangkok, you will not be able to buy it so easilly at the island of Samet. So, do buy them when you are at Ban Phe town at a reasonable price.
What to buy:
Fresh rambutans, mangosteens & mangoes
Dried jackfruit (usually freeze/air-dried)
Dried cuttlefish
Mixture of fried anchovy (ikan bilis) with nuts & sesame seeds
Dried Fish snacks (full of msg probably, but tasty!)-can be plain or spicy
Fried tapioca and banana crisps-can be savoury or sweet, or flavoured with green tea, etc.
The variety is enormous so you may be inclined to over-indulge.
What to pay: Between 20-50 baht per pack

These shops have anything from beer and whisky to beach balls and snorkeling equipment. Anything bought here you can bargain for, but they will not go down on the prices much at all. Open usually till about 10ish.
*Any kind of beach equipment and things like that buy before you come to the island, you will get it for cheaper in the mainland and the quality will be better*
What to pay: Its very hard to get a cheap price here, good luck with the bargains.

It's a 7-11 just like it would be in New York or in LA. There are 2 of them of the island, one right as you get off the Ferry, you cannot miss it, and the next one will be right before the entrance to the National Park area of the island. Only Thai magazines are sold here. There is sun lotion and bug spray.

During a day on the beach you will see these guys walk around with sarongs to sell. They have a ton of designs to choose from and they will ask you anywhere from 150 - 200 Baht for one. The lowest my guy would settle with was 100 Baht so we got one...
If you are sitting near the beach at a restaurant or something they will come up to you and bother you every single time they walk by, it can get a bit annoying at times, but ive seen alot worse elsewhere. Once you say no they will walk away in most cases.
What to pay: 100 Baht
