    Agogos: Dark Places in Pattaya

    by Sami29 Updated Apr 13, 2010

    1.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Agogos are meant to be dancing parlors, but in reality they are not. If you are colored ( brownish skin) from any country, I strongly advise you to keep away from Agogos especially those in Soi 6 Soi 13, beach road and Buakao area.
Most of these Agogos are owned by European farangs and have special purposes:
1- first of all, these Agogos are meeting stations between the farang boss and some of the local officials; most of the deals are done here and of course Thai officials are entertained generously by the farang owner. They dont mind farang customers but certainly not people from the Middle East or Asia.

2- Some Agogos provide short time sex rooms for some senior European farangs; this is illegal in Pattaya but there are rooms hired on short time bases for that purpose. You may get a chance to do it if you go with some farang friends but no way they allow you to hire a room if you go alone.

3- Whatever is unavailable outside can be obtained in most Agogos and this will include drugs illicit medicines and more. For these reasons, they only allow European farangs in.
In any case, if you even try your best to enter, there is a strong possibility that they will turn you back next time>

    Club Nevada: The Biker Bar

by gaolei Written Apr 18, 2009

Nevada Bar is the place where the local Hog riders hang out. The music is loud, but not as loud as when these guys were young. There are ladies dancing in all stages of undress, and there are the bikers. This is not the bad biker bar that Hell's Angels would call home, but a much tamer venu.

You will find the bikers here are mostly Americans or Aussies. You can see their bikes parked outside. They all belong to the local club and they are all friendly guys who will buy you a beer before you can think to buy one yourself. Overall, not a bad place to stop, make some friends, and enjoy a beer with the owner, Lou.

Shenanigans Irish Pub is a good place to go for a few beers without being hasseled by bargirls.Decorated in the Irish pub fashion with big comfortable sofas you can sink into.Excellent Irish breakfast - the full monty, plus a free Cappuccino refill .You can also have a quiet dinner, drinks chatting and watching football on the big screen or smaller TVs scattered around the pub.Friendly good service here.

FLB Bar: A safe and sane hostess bar with good coffee

by gaolei Updated May 6, 2008

FLB is a Hostess bar with a difference. You can go in and get a cold beer, hot coffee or anything in between. Yes they have a lot of women, and a rather good live band, but they will not bother you. It is against their rules to bother the patrons, unless they signal that they would like to talk to one of the ladies.

The owner, Martin is well known to all the guys who come here for an evening beer every day. He is freindly and helpful. Want to know more or need help getting around town? The locals hang out here and they love to help a newbie. Maybe they will invite you on one of their frequent bar crawls.

The other unique think here is the clean toilets with real toilet paper.

Coyotee's: The best Go Go bar in Pattaya

by austarman Updated Feb 3, 2007

Coyotee Agogo Bar is above the normal standard set by the other agogo bars in Pattaya, the girls there are young and most of them are stunners.
Fantastic shows inclusive of all the different shows found in other agogo bars in Pattaya..
The whole place is pink and there are bars on 2 levels!
I went there twice when I was in Pattaya and I was very pleasantly shocked both times. ;-P
Those who go to Pattaya should go to this place at least one time to experience the atmosphere...great party atmosphere!!

Pattaya's homosexual community enjoys an unprecedented amount of tolerance considering the region. But discretion still is the rule. We walked into the super gay area of Boyztown, photographed on a rainy day. This must be a Valhalla for gays and we heard the Kathoey Cabaret is one of the best. So we went back in the heat of the night to the Boyz-Boyz-Boyz Club. Well, not all of the performers are transvestites or transgenders, but the show is phantastic, amazing.

It is bizarre, too, to watch all kind of guys, walking on the catwalk before and after the Kathoey Cabaret performance. In a row they take some poses and show their nearly naked, worked-out bodies, only dressed in underwear with a number on it. Guess why ...

Dress Code: All kind is allowed, only when special party time special dresses are required ... (mostly on club announcement)

    Marine disco: Famous disco

by Pimilan Written Sep 15, 2005

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Marine bar disco is still one or the most know disco in Pattaya. Of course it's not the center point as it was on the 80-90 s. The closed time is like many other disco depending on the police control. Hollywood on the south or X'zyte on Sai 3 are also well know.

Dress Code: Only money is required to go in this disco

Too many to remember: The Go Go bars

    by Ike_2005 Written Apr 29, 2005

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This is an example of one of the hundreds of go go bars in Pattaya. A bunch of girls run around in their bikinis or panties and bras and dance while you kick back and get drunk. What more can a single guy ask for?

Dress Code: Some require you to wear a shirt, but otherwise you can wear whatever the hell you want.

This is another regular little bar that was next to my hotel. It was another good spot to hang out late at night since it was close to home. Plenty of foreigners and pretty women to play with here too.

Red Lion: Drinking till the sun comes up

    by Ike_2005 Written Apr 29, 2005

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This is just your average bar in Thailand. It just so happened to be right across the street from my hotel, so I'd go there once I was done partying up on walking street. I felt safer there since it was right next to where I lived. I met a few cool foreigners to shoot the *** with, and there were plenty of girls to talk to and play with.

Dress Code: You probably don't even need shorts in this joint. just bring money for brew and you're good to go.

    Everywhere: STREET FOOD

by trevndebs Written Apr 20, 2005

The later the hour, the more streetfood stalls appear it seems.

I loved it but be selective as the locals are partial to deep fried scorpions and bugs.

I preferred to choose the kebab sticks and hot dogs and paid 10 Baht per stick, just the job!

    Peppermint Palace: Happy Hour

by trevndebs Updated Apr 20, 2005

Situated in Walking Street, go up the escalators and you're in the Peppermint Palace.
Highly recommend this bar for its happy hour which includes the mixer drinks 2 for the price of 1( usually they aren't included).
Cabaret inside is geared for the men with lovely Thai girls in a variety of uniforms and bikinis.
Drinks are average price for Pattaya which makes the happy hour such good value.
Non threatening environment, many female tourists inside with their partners.

Nightlife.... Well err... it's famous in Pattaya!

by shelnlin Updated Jan 27, 2005

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Pattaya is known for it's nightlife... once upon a time not so long ago Pattaya was just a little seaside community and then before you knew it, people were flocking to Pattaya.

There are bars on bars in this place. In fact at nightime, the traveller is spoilt for choice on where he or she wants to go. Pattaya is known for it's prostitution and unfortunately many a man has fallen in love with a Thai lady seducing him with all her charms. I like the Thai people but it is sad how some of the woman have to go into a trade such as this. They are often supporting families, children, husbands, mothers, fathers, grandparents... The wages are very low in Thailand so to any Thai bar girl a farang (foreign) man is certainly worth getting to know. Some men end up having relationships with these girls only for a night, a week, a month or even keep in touch with girls long after they leave Thailand. Some come back hoping to see their girls again only to find out that their girl has got a new man, sometimes you hear of marriages and some girls go off and join their new husbands in a new life to somewhere far off away from their families. This is the reality and it is sad. A good book to read all about it "Hello my big big Honey" which gives the reader a candid look at life from a prostitutes point of view through letters to her man and letters from the men to the girls.

Dress Code: The dress code for westerners is generally pretty casual, however the Bar girls will dress up if you are taking them out in little bitty teeny weeny outfits complete with high heels. They may look cute to some in Thailand but outside to the rest of the world maybe a bit tardy, a bit too much and maybe a bit too overdone.
