At some place Pattaya Beach is only 3 meters wide. That is so nice to sit.

So I already told you, that it is better to go to Jomtein beach. Jomtein Beach can easily be reached with a pick-up taxi (from 2nd road: about 20 Baht).

The beach is pretty long and at some places wide.

You can rent a chair, and there are plenty of beach vendors (sometimes too many) which are selling fresh fruits (pine apple, mango, . . .), shrimps, ice cream, T-shirts, sun glasses, wooden elephants and other souvenir gifts.

    Jomtien Beach: HOEK VAN HOLLAND

If you enter the JomTien Beach and head for the trendy Dong Tarn Beach you'll pass HOEK VAN HOLLAND for sure. It is a very nice cafe where you can have the wonderful and famous "broodje kroket" for about 150 Baht, ie. a bread roll with a truly Dutch croquet.

That is because of Pieter who is the Dutch owner of HOEK VAN HOLLAND (Dutch city "Corner of Holland"). Some other Dutch specialities he offers, like broodje pindakaas (peanut butter), Dutch pommes frites/potatoes and some Dutch meat-recipes ... Can you imagine how the Dutch represent their not that cheap traditions, heeheeh ...

When wanna have some fun on the beach, head for the South ... where HAT JOMTIEN Beach is located. Slightly eccentric this charismatic area can be as peaceful as crowded. It is the charming pro for the fanciest among us, for the gays & lesbiennes, and the best for the water-sports facilities.

I prefered the HAT JOMTIEN Beach area to the Pattaya beach and, jumping in a "songthaew" (pick-up truck/minibus) for only 10 Baht we reached this popular beach after a 10 minutes ride. Pay the fare after you have stepped off!

Ehm,... some tourists had to pay 100 Baht. Feel sorry for them!

Jomtien is where locals hang out. Me and my friends always end up there when we just want to go to the beach for a day. It looked nicer and cleaner this time we went.

Here you can go jet skiing, banana boating, and swimming, of course.

Jomtien is a bit less touristy than the rest of Pattaya and a bit more relaxed.

If you are looking for a better beach for swimming than Pattaya Beach then head to Jomtien. The beach is long with plenty of shaded areas to relax. Also many kinds of food and drink.

Away from the noisy Pattaya bar scene, Hat Jomtien is a reasonably good alternative to Hat Pattaya. That being said, the beach itself is rather meagre (see pic), and the swimming is mediocre due to rough surf. Not much else to do during the day in Pattaya, so probably worth the 30 baht taxi ride down.

We had alot of fun at this beach :) We rented 30min JetSki for 500baht (per person) , Banana boat 30min for 1200baht ( shared by 4 person).

The JetSki is terrific depending on how you control it. If you dare to go at full speed, i would said its Terrific. But for my friends who try it for the first time, they were going slow...so it really depends on how you ride it :) hehe

The Banana boat suppose to last us for 30min but the boat man would delay here and there and drive us back to the shore early. The main fun in playing Banana boat is like challenging the boat man, he will try to make us capsized and we would used our balancing skills to control it :)

Jomtien Beach: the tower, nice beach

  • about a 50B (1 euro) ride away is jomtein beach, word warning ie dont expect much out of the beach side AGED water park. there is a 600ft tower which u can get a cable car up to, and if you afriad of heights i recommend against it.
u can get leap of top (terrifying) strapped to a cable and sail down for a few cent, but its not for faint hearted as cars look like ants from this height and i dunno if tower meets safety regulations!!!!
the beach is nice, ko lan off about 3 miles, and u can relax with a beer for a euro under straw umberellas tho ppl haunt u to rent over priced jet ski's and buy stuff eg got a genuine croc skin wallet for less than 8 euro.

  • we only went to jomtien beach for 1 day out of our 12night holiday to pattaya but it was one of the best days we had. thai's walk up and down the beach all day fresh food selling and drinks. we had crab claws (crab meat on a claw), bbQ king prawns, corn-on-cob,coconut drink in a coconut shell, spring rolls and a load of drinks and we only spent around 600bht between 7 of us the whole day !!! some of our party had a beach massage which was really good. 4 of our party rented jetskies which were around 500bht for 30 minutes. we had a great day and caught a really good suntan. we would definately recommend you to go to jomtien beach.

We usually go to Jomtien to chill, eat Papaya Salad and seafood on the beach. This, in the pic, is how the beach looks like.. Beach umbrellas and tables.
