At Royal Garden Plaza you've got "Ripley's Believe It Or Not" with a museum about unbelievable, creepy things. But you really wanna get the creeps? Walk to South Pattaya where the Arab area is (behind the Walking Street). Go from Pratamnak Road to the right into Soi Diamond. There is the food evening market place with restaurants all around.
Not that far you'll see a vendor cart, a sort of mobile kitchen, at the left. Take a good look, darling! This is a luxury and DISCO first class! The family here is preparing some delicious snacks! Scorpions, cockroaches, beetles, grasshoppers, bees, maggots and other kind of bugs and insects of all sizes ...
I've seen it on TV and couldn't turn away my eyes. And for now it was a deja-vu in Pattaya. I got nailed down next to mamasan insect-preparer. Thai people are brought up with this kind of food. I know! Still this is an event of great experience, with a vengeance ... (sorry for bad quality of the pics I took the last evening in Pattaya, when rained!)
And with my next visit I'll come to watch... and maybe try one !
I guess you have not really been to Pattaya unless you take a stroll along walking street, preferably at night.Bright lights and music and we have a lively street with lots of bars, shops, restaurants and people.A good place to party or just have a nice meal and people watch .So just keep on walkin'...
It's good to just walk through here sometimes and watch the sprukers trying to get you to go in thier bars.
There are also many things for sale on walking street, as well as lots of music coming from the bars and many interestng people to look at.
Judging by what I saw my tip for best disco would be Marine but go late.
Avoid Tony's disco as they are so money hungry they take your drink before you finish it and try to sell you stuff in the toilets.
My tips for best Go Go bar would be Coyote's or the Tiger Go Go.
Staying in a hotel in the Southern part of Pattaya the WALKING STREET was just around the corner. You're supposed to go for a walk here, don't you? Well, go for a sexy walk then! You'll be surprised how Thai people bring their kids and show them how the sometimes very young babydoll-girls pose in the Go-go bars to impress passing tourists. The kids love it and imitate the Go-go girls ...
It's worth remembering that sex tourism is a booming industry in Pattaya. The locals do not mind, the authorities connives at the same time, as long as the "farang" or Westen sex tourists do come and, enjoy with a lot of pleasure in this self-styled, semipedestrianised meeting zone.
Coming to Pattaya seems to miss a big part if you didn't go for a walk at the south pattaya beach at Walking Street. You'll see night life for a drink, music, restaurant, shows and night life of Pattaya.
While this certainly is a must do while in Pattaya, I found the overall atmosphere to be a little tame. Not nearly as seductive or risque as I thought the experience would be. It is like a PG13 version of an adult playgrounds. Still very much an alive vibe though. Plenty of street performers and girlie and go go bars. Tons of shops and restaurants. The neon flashing can rival Tokyo. Still not as seedy as expected. Some of the girls just looked plain bored. Me's thinks Walking Street might have jumped the shark.
Walking Street is a famous and vibrant part of the city of Pattaya and runs from the south end of Beach Road to the Bali Hai Pier, and there are entrance arches at either end. The street is traffic-free at night, from 6pm to 2am, and this is where most of the action in Pattaya happens. There are go-go (dancing girls) bars, beer bars, discothèques, sports bars, posh seafood restaurants and night clubs - you name it, it's here. Coloured neon signs and girls with happy-hour/drink special offer boards entice you into various establishments of differing tastes. If live music's your scene, then you'll hear plenty along this street. Even if you're not into what this street is synonymous for, it still has to be sampled just to see what happens here. There is a common saying that for tourists who come to Pattaya and did not get to see and experience the atmosphere of Walking Street is liken to not having been to Pattaya at all, as Walking Street is the hub of entertainment in Pattaya.
Walking Street Pattaya is probably the most exciting street in the world if like to have fun. Here you will find all kinds of entertainment, from bars, discos, gogo-bars, cabaret shows and much much more. It is a tourist attraction that draws foreigners and Thai nationals, primarily for the night life. It is a red-light district with many go-go bars and brothels. The street runs from the south end of Beach Road to the Bali Hai Pier. Walking Street is closed to vehicles from 6:00 pm to 2 am, and car parking is provided at the Bali Hai end. The area includes seafood restaurants, live music venues, beer bars, discothèques, sports bars, go-go bars, and nightclubs, and is illuminated at night by many colored neon signs. The closing time of 2:00 am has been extended for many business establishments.
The Walking Street beside being Sex District also has many shops, restaurants, Hookah Bars, Massage Parlours, Brothel and many more but this place is not obscene! They do not call you or pull you by hand. They are aware that Tourist Police is watching ! We found many families with young children are taking a walk through the district and no one is disturbing them!
The kilometer long walk through the place will give you opportunity to have window shopping for many shows. Even if you don't participate , it's a good idea to have a walk and pass two hours to gain experience!
