We were booked by Raj Travels in our transfer service provided by local Thailand tourist agency. We landed in Suvarnabhumi airport early morning and picked up at the airport for the transfer. The journey of 110 km roughly took 2 and half hours to cover including a break on the way. The coach was in first class condition and the journey was very comfortable. The breakfast on the way served hot buffet with indian + western mix of bread, omlet, puri & sabji. Overall enjoyed the short trip

Bus from Bangkok

The most common way to get from Bangkok to Pattaya is by taking an air conditioned bus at the Eastern Bus Terminal on Sukhumvit road Soi 63, which is near the Ekkamai station. Buses goes every 30 minutes starting from 5:30 am to 11:30 pm everyday and cost 120 Bath.

There are two other bus stations, the Northern Bus Terminal at Mochit with service between 5:20 and 11:20 pm. The Southern Bus Terminal at Khao San road has scheduled services at 8:30 am, 10:00 am, 12:00 pm, 2:00 pm, 4:00 pm and 6:30 pm. It costs approx 100 bath for air conditioned bus.

Take a bus from the airport which leaves the airport every two hours. Tickets cost 106 Bath. The buses will drop you off at the bus station on North Pattaya road. From there you take your own taxi to find a hotel.

Most buses from Bangkok to Pattaya operate from the Eastern Bus Terminal (Ekkamai). There is also a frequent service from the North / North-Eastern Bus Terminal at Mo Chit to Pattaya.
Both services are run by the Roong Reuang Coach Company under contract to the national Transport Company Limited.
From Ekkamai Eastern Bus Termanal or Mor Chit Northern Bus Termanal. The bus leaves every 30 minutes and the fare is around 90 -120 baht.It takes about one and a half or two hours depending on the traffic .The bus arrives at Pattaya Station on North Pattaya road.
An alternative is the Southern bus station across the river. For people staying near the river or Khaosan road it is quicker to get too because the traffic in BKK.Bus leaves here for Pattaya every 2 hours 8:30 am,10:30am.........so make sure you get there on time .You don't want to be waiting two hours for the next bus.

Airport to Pattaya
!.5 to 2 hours
Price - about 1300 baht.
agree the price before you set off
You may be asked to pay m/way tolls - about 90 baht.

DO NOT - allow a tout - even with ID - to get you a taxi - go out of arrivals and approach the tables set up outside.

BELL buses do a good service but only through the day - google them for info.

Pattaya to Airport costs about 800 to 1000 baht.

this is the BELL service but it needs to be updated....

Bell Buses –

Here's a detailed reply from Bell Travel Service Co., to my enquiry about buses from Suvarnabhumi airport to Pattaya, received in March 2008.

Pattaya - Taxi and buses....

Bell buses look to be good....these details from March 2008....
Details of Taxis below.

TAXI......

The taxi fare should be about 1300 - it can be more or less....a friend did it for 1000 a fortnight ago. You can negotiate a little.

Agree on the price BEFORE you set off...they won’t use a meter.

Ask if the price includes motorway tolls - (about 60 to 90 baht) - pay these you if you like at the toll booths.

Taxis are available 24/7

DON"T let a TOUT get you a taxi when you walk out into the arrivals hall.

Get a taxi from a table or kiosk outside.

Taxis are convenient as they take you to your hotel and you don't have to change transport and move luggage on arriving at Pattaya....Bell offer a free shuttle to your hotel...but if you want to save time - use a taxi.

The return fare from Pattaya to Suvarnabhumi Airport is usually less - about 800 baht.....maybe a 1000.

With ALL taxis/limos, check the vehicle...you don't want a very old (15/20yrs) vehicle. The taxis have a sign on the roof saying "TAXI METER" and the limos (official ones) have GREEN number plates.

Anything else is a bit dodgy - take it at your own risk.

Busses to Pattaya from Bangkok

Get to Ekkamai Eastern Bus Termanal or Mor Chit Northern Bus Termanal in Bangkok. There are 2 types of bus to Pattaya. One goes direct to Pattaya (Express) and the other goes into the rural town areas. The former is more expensive (only less than 50 bht more) but saves you about 1 hour and the latter cheaper but takes longer. The bus arrives at Pattaya Station on North Pattaya road. From here there are many Songthaew taxi that will take you to where you want to go.The fare to Beach Road is 20 baht for locals but they will charge visitor 40 baht or up to 150 baht. So, please do not get ripped off.

A person can ride the bus to and from Pattaya to Bangkok Monday thru Sunday from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm. I personally ride my motorbike to the Pattaya Bus Terminal, park it for 30 baht per day in a security watched parking lot, and ride the bus to Bangkok for 128 baht each way. This information is current as of September 15, 2008.
